Very very sparse information on this unit.

I'm glad to see that Sony is still behind the concept of a stand alone SACD players and hopefully this means continued software availability.

What? HDMI so you can plug it into your crappy receiver and get multi-channel SACD? Forget that, two channel SACD is where I'm at now

You will get your two channel with this new player. It has balanced outputs! Plus some technology to control the data through HDMI for superior sound. This player is on my list.

Nice looking unit. I just bought a Marantz that's friggin ugly - but it sounds great. Only 2 channel though. :)

Maybe this will be on my list in a couple years to replace my aging C333ES. Hopefully its not a flash in the pan and hs a lengthy production run, even if the sales numbers are not huge.

Plus, in a few years Sony will have fixed the firmware bugs that are in the initial release.

Sounds interesting. I'd love to see how it sounds against my old Dvp-9000ES (which I love). I figured some time ago that an XA-9000ES was my next player. I'll have to watch for more reviews to see if this does give it a run for its money.

Have they fallen that far? I have not tried any of the newer gear. But, I have listened to an XA-9000ES and was impressed.

They stepped off the game after the STR-DAxES series in regards to AVR's. The CDP level continued on but was lost in the gamut of other market killers like Jolida, Cambridge, Arcam, Rega, etc. WAY too many alternatives were killing the market to rise above it....and they all eventually felt the same backlash.

Even Marantz stepped up their game with a Reference level product....and who gave a **** about Marantz? That line almost died 5 years ago.

The ES line is historically well designed and well built. I have no doubt that the new lineup is solid, much like the Qualia line....but what normal ppl can afford that ****e.

I'm not interested ONLY because there is so much out there. I've done alot of ES and if its awesome...fantastic but I'll hang out elsewhere.
