Polk EX365

I paid about $100 for some EX365 and they have very nice mids and highs but it distorts very easily when playing bass. I would like to know if this is normal?

I would suggest checking to see if the driver has a good seal
in its mounting bracket first. Seond, if the driver is "leaking", then
install a gasket on the back of the basket. These drivers do require a "break in" period of 40 hours by playing music at a reasonable level to let the suspension loosen up or "break in".
Also check the phase of the drivers for proper polarity.
Last but not least... are you driving these speakers with a "high-powered" head unit or factory radio?? If so, then install some bass-blockers in series with the positive leads on each speaker.
This will prevent the drivers from distorting when reproducing
low bass frequencies. If these are being driven by a "high powered" head unit and the program material has high levels of low bass information, then it is pretty easy to over drive the internal amplifier and it willl produce high levels of distortion.
Try setting the Bass, and Treble controls to a neutral or even a negative position, and turn the "Loudness" off when listening at higher volume levels. I would suggest, when possible, investing in a good external power amplifier that incorporates a built in high pass and low pass crossovers. If you have any questions,
