Adcom Hook Up Probs -???

i got my adcom, speaker wires to the amp speaker outs, i got the inputs and outputs plugged up.

Heres my problem, Its playing the sound, but its only playing like a whisper - like its a sound that is unclear and heard 5,000,000 miles away - neone know what is wrong?

Man, its on - its plugged up - it hooked up, I AM GETTING NO SOUND! IT GOES NO LOWER AND NO HIGHER! Its just a hollow sound that sounds like ****! I am trying to get this hooked up, please either help me - or dont post, im sorry, but this is really pissing me off! I paid for it, hooked it up - and it sounds worse than the yamaha! It has no sound, but yet it still does, Its like 1 db of sound that is playing that gets no louder or lower, and when u turn the amp off or the receiver the speakers make this terrible noise! CAN SOMEONE OUT THERE THAT IS TRYING TO HELP - HELP ME?

Are the arrows on your audio cables pointed the right way?

sounds like the preamp is not right. are you sure you have the preamp out to the amp in correctly?

l/r main preouts to the amp from the receiver, all plugged up

have you tried multiple sources? ie. cd,dvd,cable....

Are you SURE you are using PRE-OUTs, not a 'tape out'?

There is a whole list of em russ, It goes in order from right to left up to down, Right main, left main, right surround, left surround, center, subwoofer - inputs, i have the mains hooked up and they go to the outputs on the amp.

You need OUTPUTS, not INPUTS. Those inputs are to connect an external 5.1 processor (dvd player etc).

Yeah those are 5.1 inputs, not pre-amp outputs.

What model is your receiver?

The 5460 does NOT have pre-amp outputs.

How much you want fer yer Adcom? ;)

Ok it's a HTR-5460, sorry man I checked the specs. No pre-amp outputs. Guess it's time to get a new receiver or pre-amp. :D

Sid,

Unplug the amp and set it on the carpet next to your rack. That's what some folks have done with their amps. ;)

Yeah, I have been really mad at this pos! Well, I guess this meets the 6 p's...lol! Well I am going to later sale the YAMAHA (russ, not the adcom) - after i get all the adcom amps, and then I am going to buy a 5 channel NAD receiver, with 5 channel pre amp outputs! Muahahhaha, the yamaha receiver will later be sold, If i dont trade it with my Dad for something! lol!

Troy - I decided to set it on my dresser, and get rid of the KLH left main, Ill put the right main back...maybe! lol!

Yeah, I made a big mistake - first time learner here, no guidance and i didnt even think to ask! lol! But...yeah, im keeping the adcom but will later on trade/sale the yamaha with someone or w/e! But I give it to the adcom, its one heavy SOB!
