Exclamation if you love your mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, etc., PLEASE READ ON!

if you love your mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, etc., PLEASE READ ON!
This came from a police officer.

    Crucial
    Because of recent abductions
    in daylight hours, refresh yourself
    of these things to do
    in an emergency situation...
    This is for you,
    and for you to share
    with your wife,
    your children,
    everyone you know.
After reading these 9 crucial tips ,
forward them to someone you care about.
It never hurts to be careful
in this crazy world we live in.

    1. Tip from Tae Kwon Do :
The elbow is the strongest point
    on your body.
If you are close enough to use it, do!

    2. Learned this from a tourist guide
    in New Orleans
If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse,
DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM.
    Toss it away from you....
chances are that he is more interested
in your wallet and/or purse than you,
and he will go for the wallet/purse.
RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

    3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car,
kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole
    and start waving like crazy.
The driver won't see you, but everybody else will.
    This has saved lives.

    4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars
after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit
(doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc.
    DON'T DO THIS!)
The predator will be watching you, and this
is the perfect opportunity for him to get in
on the passenger side, put a gun to your head,
and tell you where to go.
AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR ,
    LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE.

    If someone
    is in the car
    with a gun
    to your head
    DO NOT DRIVE OFF,
    repeat:
    DO NOT DRIVE OFF!
    Instead gun the engine
and speed into anything, wrecking the car.
Your Air Bag will save you.
If the person is in the back seat
they will get the worst of it .
As soon as the car crashes
    bail out and run.
It is better than having them find your body
    in a remote location.

    5. A few notes about getting
into your car in a parking lot,
    or parking garage:
    A.) Be aware:
    look around you,
    look into your car,
at the passenger side floor ,
    and in the back seat

B.) If you are parked next to a big van,
enter your car from the passenger door.
Most serial killers attack their victims
by pulling them into their vans while the women
are attempting to get into their cars.

    C.) Look at the car
parked on the driver's side of your vehicle,
and the passenger side.. If a male is sitting alone
in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back
into the mall, or work, and get a
guard/policeman to walk you back out.
IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)

    6. ALWAYS take the elevator
    instead of the stairs.
(Stairwells are horrible places to be alone
    and the perfect crime spot.
This is especially true at NIGHT!)

    7. If the predator has a gun
and you are not under his control,
    ALWAYS RUN!
The predator will only hit you (a running target)
4 in 100 times; And even then,
it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ.
RUN, Preferably in a zig -zag pattern!

    8. As women, we are always trying
    to be sympathetic:
    STOP
It may get you raped, or killed.
Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking,
well educated man, who ALWAYS played
on the sympathies of unsuspecting women.
He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often
asked 'for help' into his vehicle or with his vehicle,
    which is when he abducted
    his next victim.

    9. Another Safety Point:
Someone just told me that her friend heard
a crying baby on her porch the night before last,
and she called the police because it was late
and she thought it was weird. The police told her
    'Whatever you do, DO NOT
    open the door.'
The lady then said that it sounded like the baby
had crawled near a window, and she was worried
that it would crawl to the street and get run over.
The policeman said, 'We already have a unit on the way,
whatever you do, DO NOT open the door.'
He told her that they think a serial killer
has a baby's cry recorded and uses it to coax
women out of their homes thinking that someone
dropped off a baby He said they have not verified it,
but have had several calls by women saying that
they hear baby's cries outside their doors
when they're home alone at night

Please pass this on and DO NOT open the door
    for a crying baby ----
This e-mail should probably be taken seriously because
the Crying Baby theory was mentioned on
America 's Most Wanted this past Saturday when they profiled
    the serial killer in Louisiana

I'd like you to forward this to all the women you know.
It may save a life. A candle is not dimmed by lighting another candle.
I was going to send this to the ladies only,
but guys, if you love your mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, etc.,
you may want to pass it onto them, as well.

Send this to any woman you know that may need
to be reminded that the world we live in has a lot of crazies in it
and it's better to be safe than sorry..
Everyone should take 5 minute to read this. It may save your life or love one's life.

Granted people should be vigilant and aware of their surroundings, but people can't live their lives in fear. This post does nothing but help instill fear into those where it's unfounded. Things are not as bad out there as some would have you believe. When was the last time you watched the news and they had stories about all the good that happens? No, they don't tell you all those stories, instead it all about violence, death and B.S.

I see where you are coming from, but it doesnt mean there isnt some good information there, or posessing some knowlege as to how to handle a bad situation is a bad thing. while they do not happen everyday, bad things do happen and while we shouldnt be overparanoid, we should always be aware of our surroundings.

I've said it before and i will say it again, the only person responsible for your safety and well being is you........take a more active role in it :)

There's SOME good info there, but all in all it's fear-mongering. Tugboat is exactly right. Most of that "info" was to protect adult women from serial killers and abductions. How many serial killers are there in the US? A handful? Out of 300 million people, you're pretty safe. And how many adults are abducted every year?

Be vigilant, know how to defend yourself, but don't be a paranoid freak.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

My guess is this was taken from an email, and that email's purpose was to flood email systems by encouraging the receipient the send it along to everyone they know. It's the same as those damn good luck emails and getting money from Microsoft based on the number of times it's forwarded, excpet if uses fear to keep it in motion.

I'm not disputing that there is some useful information in it, but it does more harm than good most of the time by scaring more than informing and does nothing to encourage people to still live their lives and not think everyone they see is going to harm them (ever notice that smiling at a woman usually gets her to look at the ground like your intent is to be a perv). I already know too many people that are scared enough as it is. It's one of the reasons kids are so fat and addicted to video games. They never let their kids leave the house for fear of kidnappers and molesters. It's so sad.

This might have work in the late 60's through mid-80's but doesn't really apply now since most taillight holes are only the size of the taillight bulb socket. A better idea would be to pull the now federally mandated emergency escape tab that releases the trunk and won't let it latch again until reset.

How do we know this? Is there a study somewhere on serial killer behavioral patterns? Honestly. This is just paranoia.

Really? What if the elevator is broken? You know, the elevator isn't any better and you are in an enclosed box with no easy way out and your only defense is a camera tied to a security system monitored by a guy on minimum wage. Yeah, the elevator is SOOOO much safer!

Yeah, sure. Just like the movies. If the dude shoots you in the back while you are trying to run, you're gonna be hurtin' and what if you don't get away? You only make the situation worse. Besides, if you are "under 'his' control", you can't really run, can you?

Yeah, aside from the chauvanistic implications of this one, EVERY cripple guy asking for a hand is a Ted Bundy wannabe. More like an Al Bundy wannabe.

Haven't you seen any of the hundreds of UFC fights on TV? They don't go running around hitting each other with their heads, they use elbows man, Elbows..! OUCH..!
By the way, the chances are the attacker is bigger than the attackie.
So a head butt is out of the question... it works in the movies. As a former bouncer, let me tell you guys, I have seen all kinds of fights. I only seen 1 head butt and the guy that attempted it knocked himself out because he pulled his opponents head towards him in effect hitting himself, like a reverse head butt. Yowsa..!
Anyway, not a bad thing to be reminded of what kind of people are out there... is it?

The UFC is hardly a good example of self-defense or of anatomy.

Head butts of any kind are against the rules.

Besides, I never said to use your head as a weapon, I contested the statement that your elbow is the strongest part of your body. I really doubt it is. Especially since things like your skull are egg shaped and designed to distribute weight and things like your femur support the entire weight of your body and then some.

Read the words that are posted, not what you want to see.

My mom always said I had a thick skull. :D

I agree. If you do it correctly, a head butt is very effective. Forward or backwards, a head butt to the nose will stun most people and allow a hasty retreat.

On the subject of running from a gun.... I say run. Most firefights result in more misses than hits. Most of the hits are luck, not skill. Someone not trained in control will shoot randomly without taking the time to aim. It doesn't take much to miss someone as the bullet goes more off track the farther it travels. That and hopfully the idiot is holding his gun "gangster" style (sideways). That is amost a guarantee they suck.

Um, I did not state anything about UFC and using a head as a weapon but you decided that you need to rebuke my argument with a counterpoint that had nothing to do with anything I stated.

You are not discussing self-defense. You are discussing UFC which is mixed martial arts intended for offensive purposes. Different ideas, different uses. In self defense, there are no rules. If a dude has a gun to my head and I got a chance, I'm kickin' his man-parts so far up in to his body cavity he'll have to open his mouth to take a leak.

might depend on the definition of hardest, but I think I remember my Krav instructor saying something to this effect re: elbows and knees. I've done different martial arts over the years, and am still surprised it was only recently (last 2 years) that I learned the wonders of elbow and knee strikes. it's shocking how hard I can hit something with them and feel virtually no pain. of course, you have to deliver the strike right in order for "the hardness" to pay off. do it wrong, and suddenly your "nerve endings" point might come into play

of course, the major downside to the elbow is very short range. like inches from kissing range close.

Also, I call into question this coming from Tae Kwon Do, as I took it for about a year and they didnt teach elbows.....but who knows, I wasnt exactly a black belt.

I missed the subtleties of this when I first read it. reading again, you raise a valid point. if someone pulls a gun on you and says "give me yur wallet" well...give him the wallet. if he goes away, sweet. however, if he says "now come down this alley with me" thats called "taking you to a secondary location". you DO NOT want to go to a secondary location. long story short, a painful ass rape is your best case scenario. death is in the middle, death after a brutal ass rape would probably be the worst case.

If beckoned to a secondary location and I'm close enough to get the gun, I'm getting it (do I train in this? yep, am I guaranteed to live? nope. life...she's a gamble). If its a further range (i.e. the guy with the gun actually knows what he is doing), watch my fat ass run. hitting a target heading away is hard, also, is it worth it for the guy to shoot you and draw attention to himself. probably not (he was seeking to take you to a secondary location for a reason.....he didnt like where you were from jump street)

just my .02, everyone of these scenarios would be very dynamic, and very hard to give a one option fits all response.

Not to mention that using your head might leave you dazed. Not a good thing. I'd rather shatter my elbow and get away than knock myself out and have God knows what done to me while I'm down.

As they tell pretty much everyone in law enforcement, action is faster than reaction. If you can make a definitive move and know what you're doing, you will always be faster than someone reacting to you.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Dude, again, I am not saying to use your head as a weapon.

I am disputing this statement and this statement alone: "The elbow is the strongest point on your body."

    I don't think it is. That's all I'm saying.

Personally, I do my best to stay away from areas where something like this might be a problem. But like you said, every situation is different and dynamic. You can't plan for it.

I've used my elbows for self defense before. Worked like a charm. Also used them quite often when playing JV and Varsity Basketball. When your the tallest player on your team at 6'3", they become an equalizer....:p

Exclamation Where is the love in this forum

    Stop the hate...........GEEZ..

The thread has some valid points so just let it be and stop being a smart A$$.

As far as elbow being the strongest part, I believe it's the heel but not a lot of us know how to do all the kicks especially if you are not in shape so THE ELBOW is more practical to the majority.

To those who dont appreciate this message, please keep it to yourself...

The email was sent to me by a friend who is affliated with police officers.
