I've always replaced them,,due to a driver being frozen, usually from shipping.

cone won't move in/out,,, if it won't play,,I replace mine,,I know of others who have had the surrounds replaced, usually on vintage drivers that are difficult/impossible to replace.. So,, what happened to yours?

Amp on power on took out 8 drivers with a 'thump' as it fired up.

What do you mean by "took out"?

Did it blow the surrounds? Are the drivers scratchy? Frozen? Not moving at all?

By took out I mean, blown drivers.

It was an earthing or grounding problem on a Denon AVCA1se amp with SRT speakers (the stereo arrays), since been resolved. Also looking at the possibility of spending more than I can afford on a Verastarr amp hence not wanting to buy 8 drivers.

There are some other drivers that were damaged and need the front cone replaced but are not blown, maybe they would be a better option for repairing. I am wanting to avoid having to spend too much on replacing so many at once including 2 tweeters.
