Amp to avr or pre matching

Hi all, my question is should you match the pre/pro or avr to the amp.
for example: if you buy an outlaw audio pre/pro should you also buy their amp making the assumption that the sound has been match to an A/B class amplifier?

As you can see I have a Sunfire TGA5200 amp and I am very happy with it.
Now I am looking for a pre/pro and I am considering several brands however I started thinking that pre/pros from B&K, outlaw, sunfire, parasound and so on propably are optimize for use with their own amp.

Then I was reading about the new rotels, now rotel does have A/B amps and D-class amp. but they did have a special pre/pro to go with these new amp.
Hence the question.
Can you mix and match having a pre/pro from one brand and an amp from another specially if the amp is not an A/B amp.

Rotel has the Rotel 1570 pre/pro, which does not have a amplifier section, so it seems to be the only pre/pro offered in the 15 series.

Seems like many mix and match pre/pros with amplifiers with good/great results. Im sure some people may be able to give ideas of which pres/amps work well together and which may not.
