Default GM and the economy should be just fine now....

My 09 Colorado finally showed up the other day, really like it so far. Its got the I5 in it with auto, plenty of power. Also enjoying the integrated xm and also the onstar option, already got a diagnostic e-mail on the pickup.

Somebody stole the bedliner out of it on the way here though....

Why does it matter that he bought Detroit iron and why are you grateful?

It's always fun to have a new car.......good luck with it.

Because I still like the big three very much, and people seem to be flocking to the imports these days, so it's just very nice to see someone excited about buying a Chevy. You don't have to read anything into it. :)

Americian cars could be just as good if not better then the Imports but THEY choose not 2 for whatever reason. Which is probably money. Once you own a Import and see the difference, it's hard to think about going back. I know this as I am one of them. I loved American cars all my life and never considered a Import. My uncle Got into Imports and never looked back in the early 80's. I worked for GM and Nissan as a tech and learned a great deal about quality. Nissan you basically never really Fix, GM is constantly broken. Just the ratio in Recalls is amazing. I hated it but it was true.

I have been driving Imports since the 90's and I'll never go back to American unless the can start building trouble free or limited trouble cars. I still like them I always will, just from afar.

I'm not looking to debate Import vs American here, you just struck a nerve. I really like the New Dodge and Ford line up but I would be scared as hell to buy one. I even considered the New Ford Edge before I got my Pathfinder.

Congrads on the new trucks, she looks nice. Shame about the bedliner but a Spray in is so much better anyway.

They don't have to, that's why. So many people will buy from the big 3 under the guise of buying American, or under a falsely inflated sense of brand loyalty, that it truly doesn't matter WHAT they put out, the same people will continue to buy it year after year without question.

Whao whao whao. I didn't say anything about comparing domestics to imports and I didn't even imply anything about their relative quality, and nor was my post an invitation for anyone else to do so. I merely expressed my excitement about seeing someone buying a Chevy and being happy about it.

I don't agree with your assessment in the least, but this is not the place to discuss it.

Wait a second. I struck a nerve?? I didn't even MENTION imports, nor did I even come close to insinuating anything period, much less derogatory, about their quality. As a fan of domestic vehicles I am the one constantly reading countless posts and threads accusing the big three of being unreliable pieces of over-priced crap with hopeless futures while imports are heralded as THE answer. I am the one in the minority here while your position has an untold number of drones blindly claiming the superiority of imports and spewing it all over the place. And then I make ONE comment, merely sharing the OP's excitement over his purchase, and I struck a nerve?

I don't like labels or applying them, but seeing as how neutral this whole thread was in regards to brand loyalty until you came in here blasting your trumpet, it sure makes you look a lot like a 'fanboy'.

Those Colorados/Canyons are nice little trucks and fairly reliable. Congrats on the buy.

Yes, my last new truck that I got to drive every day was an 86 Toyota SR5 4x4. We bought a Dodge ram new in 96 but my wife got to drive that 90 percent of the time. We gave that to my sister in 02. And we also have an 08 Jeep Liberty that my wife drives 99 percent of the time. So it was my turn:) I traded off an 02 Dakota on it, which I bought used.....

Very nice line-up you've had. Dad had a 1995 Silverado, and that engine was definitely very anemic. Then he leased a 1995 or 1996 extended cab Tacoma. I really liked that pickup and would LOVE to have a similar one. Perhaps a 2000 four-door Tacoma. That'd be a real fun truck. After that Dad also leased a 1997 or so Dakota. Wow, I enjoyed that truck, too. I SO wish I had been able to drive when we had that. Little pick-up, V8 up front....wow, I missed out on some good times there!

Thought I would give an update on how the truck has been, some good, some bad.....

Theres 10,000 on it as of today

For one thing they do not test these pickups on gravel roads. The rear fender flares are really getting beat up along the lower front leading edge. I did get the bed rhino lined and they also sprayed in the rocker panel area and on the lower part of that rear fender flare. Helped that area but guess I needed to spray more of on that flare. I even have mud guards on it too.

Theres also a problem on the rear differential, on the lower half theres a jog on the housing, but there isn't a jog on the rear cover. So, theres a half moon spot where the cover is susceptible to rocks hitting it and bending it back. The covers been changed once already. Pretty sure its probably going to happen again. I have a plan to remedy that:)

In all fairness on my Dakota that I had, they had the damn speed sensor mounted on the front part of the rear differential. Of course that was knocked off a couple of times by rocks till they came out with a shield for it...

They had to replace the computer once, had trouble with it not starting a couple of times. Wouldn't even turn over, was a random event....

Currently am having trouble with the stop fuse blowing, and the cruise control not working. Am taking it in Monday for them to troubleshoot that one. It looks like theres some sort of a short in the rear tailight assembly. And I guess that fuse must be tied in with the cruise as thats when the cruise stops working.

Other then that, still really like the pickup, drives great, smooth, lots of power. Drives great on gravel, snow, ice, pretty much anything I throw at it.
Just hope we get these bugs worked out of it.

Guess I was wrong about the economy and GM:)

Sorry to hear about your problems with the Colorado. :( Definitely entirely too many problems to be having with it. For your sake, I hope they get it squared away for you soon so you can go on enjoying the truck without worrying about the random failures.
