These were my absolute pride and joy when I was a bachelor. They still sound great, but we're moving, and portable they aren't (nor do they exactly fit into a subtle and understated decor ).

I'll entertain any reasonable offer as long as you'll take care of transportation. A pickup truck or u-haul is recommended, but they may fit into a minivan if all the back seats are removed. They are quite heavy (136 pounds each).

They are in pretty decent shape with some minor wear (the grill-cloth needs to be tacked/glued down on the bottom of each front piece, and there is a dent in the top of one from when it once toppled over). The (blade type) connector cable is included, but the manual is long gone (all the info you need is printed on the back of each speaker, though).

The main claim to fame for these speakers is that both the left and right channels of audio go to both speakers. The left channel cones in the right cabinet (and vice-versa) are out of phase, which creates a more pronounced stereo effect. Very pleasant speakers to listen to -- and they'll go to house shaking levels if you really want.

Her car, on the other hand, needs a little TLC and we haven't heard from the hittee as yet . She tells me there was only a bit of paint transfer onto one of his wheels, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I am really excited. I did a quick listen to some mark knopfler- and the bass was phenomenally tight and the treble just wafted!!! I cant wait to listen to some floyd LPs on this.

Good deal, and welcome to Club Polk. Do not toe your speakers in like normal speakers. Keep them about 6-10 inches off the wall, and I hope you have at least 3 feet on either side with 6-8 feet between. Please stick around. There is a lot to learn about these speakers, and congrats:)

Congrats Azi!!! and Welcome to Club Polk!

Did the speakers come with a Black Cable? If so make sure you have the cable attached. Also you want to make sure that you use a common ground amp or receiver to power them.

I own a Pair of these, you will Love them, they sound awesome and they can take a lot of power!

I have been reading about the SDAs for a few hours today and I get the basic idea of the toe-ins etc. I found the manual for SDA-SRS, but not the SDA-SRS 2s. In the manual, the illustrations seem to favour placing them close to a back wall, I guess I will have to experiment with that.

Lasareath, it did come with the black cable. Loved your youtube video and Floyd too!

What's interesting is that we are in the midst of selling off our house and I actually listed my speakers for sale to make the move easier (vandersteen 2Ce) and along comes these speakers with great reviews and even more awesoem sound and at a price I couldnt refuse!

What kind of gear are you guys using to drive these speakers ? I currently have an adcom preamp and amp ( with a few NADs and a marantz lying around- more stuff to get rid off for the move!)

Lets see, currently I have 2 GFA-555 driving left and right (the SDAs are not in place yet), a gfa-2535 for the center (bridged) and the sides and a gfa-535 II for the rears.

I think the 555s might be dual monos. Since the SDAs need a common ground, is there a way out ? Any ideas ?

congrats on your new aquisition. What type of interconnect came with the speakers? If you look at the ends you will see,either a round pin and a blade or 2 blades.As Sal stated, you want to make sure that the amp is "common ground".I tjink that you will be more than pleased with them.The better your gear,especially the source,the better they are going to sound. Usualy 6-14 inches from the back wall, and if possible,3 feet from side walls. I had a pair and wish that I had never sold them,,as they just disappear,, the soundstage is quite large, Good luck and have fun, I know that you will enjoy them,:)

Good thing then that I didnt connect them tonight and showed up on this forum instead, because without the manual thats exactly how I would ahve connected them.

This was the one with the 2 blades.

I will try and figure out if my adcom 555s are common ground, else maybe I should get one of the carvers.

I really liked what I heard during the demo session earlier tonight at the seller's house.

The 555's are fine running just one. When you bridge them you will have problems. I think Polk still has the b/b interconnect cable.

Ben is corretomundo about the 555's ;)as usual,,,and Polk still has the B/B cable,,,the worm has certainly turned for you man. Maybe I missed something,, what source and pre are you using? when you get a chance/money,might I suggest the you upgrade the tweeters with the "drop in" Polk replacements.You certainly seem to be well on the road to a sweet 2 channel system. Have fun,,and welcome to the forum.

The manual for the SRS is pretty much the same as for the SRS 2 when it comes to speaker placement, etc.

Have you seen this website:

It is a good resource for SDA specs, etc. In the Publications section, he has hosted scans of the old brochures and many of the user manuals. I don't believe there was a dedicated manual for the SRS2. That model was covered by the original SRS manual along with the SDA SRS Manual Addendum, which is available at the polksda website.

The Silk dome tweeter upgrade is a 'must' for these speakers. For approx $200 ($48 each with Club Polk discount and free shipping), you can replace all four of those overly bright Silver Coil tweeters with a newer, smoother sounding silk dome tweeter. Most likely, you could sell the old tweeters on Ebay for $20 each, give or take a little. I have the SDA-1C, which has a similar speaker complement to the SRS-2 (smaller cabinets and smaller bass radiator though). The tweeters take these speakers to a new level. After that, you might consider a crossover rebuild, but the tweeters are definitely the first step in taking these speakers to a new level.

I will look up the tweeter replacements. I assuem you are referring to the RT0 (looked up from the other posts) ? How difficult is teh replacement ? Also, any suggestions on the super-tweeter ?

Currently I have an adcom preamp 555. My current source is a beogram 3404 turntable and a toshiba cd player with an art di/o dac. I am thinking of replacing my preamp with a tube, but I am open to suggestions.

Tell me more, how can i make these sing even better :)
