Shoot a PM to member Grimster, he can probably advise since he owns the same AVR. Also to note theres a new firmware update on your AVR, he can also chime in on that one for you.

Okay, the first thing I would do is look into the settings. I want to say someone else had the same problem and it was a setting issue. I'm sure you've already looked into it but if you go to manual setup/speaker setup/speaker config. check to make sure the side surrounds did not get turned off somehow. If by chance we all talking about the rear surround, also make sure that the amp assign is set to 7.1, the 3808 defaults to zone 2 if I'm not mistaken. If all that checks out okay, double check to make sure all speaker connections are tight and making good contact with the receiver. Let me know if this all checks out and then I'll look into it further. Oh yeah, if/when we get the unit up and running, Sherard is correct, the new Denon feature pack is kick ass, well worth the $100 upgrade.

Most likely the amp assign setting. (like said above) Your choices are 7.1, 5.1+stereo, 5.1+ bi-amp, and one other I can't remember.

If you purchased the unit recently from BB, I would think you could possibly get the feature pack for free, worth a shot anyways.

ok guys the amp selection is set to 7.1, i have the speakers hooked up to surround A, the speakers work fine i hooked them up to FR channel so i know there is no conection problem. Still nothing is there anything else? what if i try to reset the unit, if so does it require all updates again? maybe i should just call denon monday, cant they diagnose it over the network? thanks again guys id hate to take it back, i really like it minus the current prob.

Okay, if you do a microprocessor reset, you will NOT lose your firmware updates. The only thing you will lose is all your settings, speaker info, radio stations, etc. and of course all Audyssey settings. If you reset the unit and it still doesn't work, your best bet would be to contact Denon Tech support.

Cool ill give it a try im not worried about the audyssey settings since i cant complete the auto cal. it says no surround l/r. Even when i go into speaker level adjust it shows all the speakers there for adjustment, just no sound from the sur. l/r, i havent tried to hook them up to sur. b yet but i dont know if that would make a difference, thanks again.
