    Post Tweeter is history, period.

My boys from Tweeter just informed me that they are going down. They are in the installation team and today was their last day :(. Be sure to look for great deals in the next coming weeks as they will be clearing out all inventory.

Chris, a great friend of mine just called about 20 minutes ago and gave me the news. By X-mas, all Tweeters should be closed for good and in his words, he expected that CC would not last until the Super Bowl.

I pray for my friends and their future.

I stopped in to my local Tweeter in Towson yesterday and the guy I usually deal with came over to me and said that they were done and they would be closed in about 6-8 weeks. I looked around and but I could not find any great deals. A pair of LSi7 were in the $900+ range. He also said that CC was next.

He said the Towson Store did well and the Owings Mills store did even better. Both of those stores are the stores that Matt and Al spoke about at Polk Fest. The guy at Tweeter said that @ 10 stores did well, 30-40 stores did OK and the other 50-60 store were not doing well bringing the whole ship down.

Good luck to the Tweeter employees.

Second that. Times are real tough around here. People used to just move. Now they are losing their homes:(

    Hey guys,

I am one of those Tweeter Installers that lost there Job yesterday. I have worked with Tweeter nearly 9 years now. It was hard to sit there and listen to that.

You know I'm a fighter and I was angry that the company gave up so quickly. There are so many good people that work for Tweeter that I had a very hard time with defeat. There are a lot of things that put us where we got 2 but I believe it could have been saved. The Install direction the company took back in 2000 was the right choice. But the entire company didn't completely focus on Install and is what I believe killed us. You go 100% or go back to being a box mover. The in between road didn't work. I know it's difficult for change. Going from moving boxes to Installing them.

On another note I will be joining the unemployment crowd and looking for the soup lines. I'm finding it incredibly hard to find a new job in Install somewhere else. No one is hiring right now. My road is going to be a very tuff one. If this happened a year ago , I would have had a much better chance , but the economy is so bad and so many people are jobless.

Christmas for my kids will be skinny this year.

I was out yesterday (I live right near the CC headquarters) and saw this first hand......person after person crying. They brought in ALOT of police to make sure the people getting let go left peacefully. A sad site to see for sure. Here is a little vid of it and the majority of the cars in the video are former employees of CC leaving. It was like a concert let out and everyone was going home. There was no notice or anything given, they showed up for work and were told to pack up all their personal belongings and to then leave. http://www.wrva.com/cc-common/mediap...IT_CITY_REPORT

    Dan,

It might be a haul for you but a job is a job and there are two companies in Cherry Hill, NJ that are looking for people last I heard to help out with Holiday stuff. There is Hi-Fi Sales in Cherry Hill and Elite Home Theater. There is also Avalon in Medford, and I see signs out front for help wanted this time every year at Pro Audio and Video. I think they are in Deptford, NJ? They should all have websites and are in the phone books.

I know you don't like the pro-audio install work but a job is a job and I know Pro Systems is hiring in the Cherry Hill area 'cause they have postings out on Job Builder and Monster.

Maybe something pans out for you.
You're just jealous 'cause the voices don't talk to you!

Sorry to hear that Dan. I will continue praying. It is going to get real bad. I am finally going to apply for food stamps. I have never been this low in my life. A couple hours ago my daughter wanted to get something to eat, and I had to tell her no because that is all we have left, and I don't know when I'll be able to get more. I am running out of stuff to sell here. And what I do have left is losing its value everyday. If anyone else is in my position please send me an email with your Polk screen name. We need to pray for each other. It is so bad here that churches are getting their heating, and ac systems gutted for copper because people know that nobody is there. Peoples morals are dropping at an alarming rate. My friend in ST Augustine said that there are some thieves that are hitting strip malls, and stealing the copper out of the ACs on the roof. Whacking a whole complex in an evening.

    Ben,
I'm so sorry your going through this. I'm not bad off yet but I'm scared. times right now suck and it's not like you can go out and have choices on where to work next. I have been doing audio video for 9 years and I love what I do. I have no desire to do anything else. I'm also a Auto tech by trade , I have a degree in Automotive technology but I left that business behind and I never want to go back. I hate it.

I really hope something comes your way. Our hobby is trivial compared to real life crisis. I'll sell all my gear, I'm already looking it over to start giving up what I really don't need.

On another note I want to thank each and everyone of you, you guys are the best and I'm happy to still be apart of this community. Hopefully something will come my way.

    Dan,

Have you considered going into business yourself, doing what you love to do right now. I would think work is there maybe not to support a whole national corporation, but a small company doing installs local to you why not.

Dan what I have seen has literally brought tears to my eyes. I consider myself blessed. I have seen furniture out on lawns with people taking anything they can get for it just to be able try to get buy. If you like tag sales you are in heaven here. I have been food shopping in the dollar stores, and on the rare occasion I would go in their in the past your typical customer was usually lower class. Now that is where I primarily food shop, and you will see the typical middle class person in there. Nice, clean, and well dressed. It just blows my mind. I know it isn't this bad in some places, and it is worse in others. Like I said you will be in my prayers, and anyone else who wants to send me an email(email is much better than PMs for me).

I'll second that. No unemployment, benni's, or retirement. 89 was real bad in CT.

Right on Ben,on the dollar stores. I have shopped Goodwill since I was a kid, to this day I stop at Goodwill for any clothes or household items, toys for the grandkids you know cheap and frugel, man has the landscape changed. I am in good company now parking lot full of new cars and higherclass ladies shopping there now,I am going to have to dress better now, people are hurting in the upper end areas of my town,I have never seen this happen.
