Default Question about AMP compared to receiver

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I was wondering how amps in terms of price compare to the quality of the amps in receivers. I know there are alot of factors but what would it to take pricewise to outdo a $1500-2000 receiver like Pioneer Elite?

Also I have the Lsi7's powered by hk3385 amp. Would upgrading to a better amp make a considerable difference? Or is this amp already sufficient?
    Setup:

    Mains: Vienna Acoustics Mozart Grand
    Surround: Vienna Acoustics Haydn Grand
    Sub: Polk DSW Micropro 3000
    DAC: Cambridge DacMagic
    AMP: B&K ST-202
    PRE: Parasound P/SP-1000
Cables: AQ Diamondback, Sidewinder, Kimber 4tc

Yes getting a more powerful amp would make a big difference. The LSI's love power.

I always recommend 200 wpc or more for driving the LSI series, including the 7's.

There is a fella selling a Sunfire 200wpc 5 channel amp in the flea market. Get that and be amazed at the difference made for all of your speakers.

The 3385 is a stereo receiver, how are you connected to use that with the 7's? From your sig I gather it's part of a HT as well. It's a wonderful match BTW, no need for an amp there unless you have extra money burning in your pockets.

If you want to try out, I have several amps you could hook up to the 3385 and listen yourself. That would require you to stop by my house though. Didn't you buy the Adcom 545 from me or was it someone else?

No I did the Adcom was nice. However I had to sell it shortly afterwords had financial issues. Im ok now actually saving for some Vienna Acoustics. Sure I would like try to the Lsi's on another amp. I feel the LSi7's have some more to offer so I want to give it a shot with a quality amp.

Before I upgrade to Vienna Acoustics Mozart I really liked how they sound.

I am using the 3385 as an amp for lsi7s. running in to to preouts of my h/k avr 335 thats hooked up to my sub and fxi5s.

Well I was sucked in when I listened to Vienna Acoustics for a two brief sessions at Magnolia. However after doing research, and just listening to my Lsi7's. I came to my senses and realized that for retail they are not worth the upgrade at this time.

I want to continue to improve my setup with the Lsi's main reasons would be the price, and I like how they look, and comparing the Mozart's to the Lsi7's is a bit unfair. I think the Lsi15's would give me the bigger soundstage, and midbass that i'm looking for.

I think I will try to get the 15's first if I can get them for less then $700. I would also like to pick up the LsiC. After that I will most likely get a good amp. Although I do worry that the h/k won't power the 15's sufficiently which may mean I have to go for an amp first.

Whichever I choose I will be without the other for some time, unless I start making money faster.
