    Default PSW-120 not working.

My sub stopped working a few weeks ago. The green light is off and no sound comes from the sub. I bought a fuse at RadioShack but it was a 1 amp instead of 1 1/4 amp but both are 250 volts and the guy there said it should be ok. Is there anything else I can do? If my sub is dead, I was thinking about buying the PSW-10 as a replacement:D.

dopenuts welcome to CP. Was the first fuse blown? Did the second fuse blow? The 1 amp should be ok. If the first was blown and the second is good I would guess that the original fuse did not open quick enough and a component on the amp became the next victim. Others might be able to say if it would be worth repairing, or have some other suggestions.

The first fuse didn't look blown so I prolly didn't need it but I thought it was worth a shot. The sub just stopped working. It shouldn't be a receiver issue because the receiver is only a year old. I'll take my sub to my cuzzin's house and check it on his receiver if possible. Thanks for the reply.

I don't see how the receiver could be the issue here if the light isn't coming on. There's a way to test this, I think, using a CD player connected to the RCA at low volume or something (you turn the volume up very slowly to see if you can hear anything, I think). Somebody from Customer Service might read this and give you the step by step procedure, or you could try searching old posts.

As for the PSW10, I don't know of anybody who would recommend that model. The DSW Pro series are getting high praise recently, so you could try searching amazon.com for pricing on any of those http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/p...al/subwoofers/. Or you could check two entry level favorites: the Velodyne VX10 and the Acoustech H100, with a strong preference for the H100 for Home Theater. The H100 can be purchased from authorized dealers on eBay with a "best offer" price of about $240.

Yes try a different source, try Kex's test (CD player) should be easier then hauling your sub over to your cousins. Not sure if your sub has any other power indicators on it or not. Seems like most have something to indicate power/standby, and green to indicate active/receiving a signal. Do you have any other lights on the sub?

Also don't forget to try another cable in the mix as well. I would try a known good cable before switching sources, and during the test with a new source.
