us consumers lose out because we no longer get the satisfaction of seeing an item and playing with it first before we purchase it. I can easily see more stores closing this year and taking their sale to internet only.
This is an important point. I have recently purchased (on-line) 3 pairs of polks, a dvd player, an HD TV and am currently in the market for some mono block amps. I am slowly losing my fear (terror) of buying before touching/feeling/listening/looking. I must say I bought my LSi9's based solely on reviews I found online. The days of taking my favorite test discs to the local salon are numbered, sadly. The upside is the online savings are significant and if you do your homework and use forums like this you can put together a nice system.

I thought the SDA's did that, I didn't know Circuit City was around then. CC just bought Polk to the mass market.

I bought my first polk SDA's when I was 17 years old. There was no Circuit City around.

    That was 22 years ago.

No I don't get it. Why do we need multiple threads discussing the same thing? Please explain the benefit of having multiple threads on the same topic running at the same time. Why did you start a thread instead of contributing to the others?

Regardless of the number of threads, I wonder how many of us really have spent serious money on audio gear in a CC? I bought a tv there 15 yrs ago, but other than that I never spent money on electronics there (other than a pair of out of the box Polk outdoor speaks for 60 bucks).

I guess I'm sad to see them go, but I'm betting most people even buy the periphials online (cables, connectors, etc).

To me, the most telling reason they went under was my experience buying my 50" plasma. I spent probably two hours over a three day period there looking at a few different plasmas, and over that two hrs of time not one sales rep came up to me and asked if I needed help. I ended up buying my plasma from Costco, where at least I got a lower price for no help and no harrassment over an extended warranty.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

Might just be getting the post count up for the F/S section. Hasn't even been a member for a week now and 49 posts, most of which are B/S.

Maybe he will buy some Polks w/ his CC discount...even though he doesn't work there anymore, and resell them.

Wow, thanks for being the first person I put on ignore.

BTW, I bought that "plasma" before LCD was a household word. On the other hand I was sitting 5 ft from mine today and had a clear pic. Try that with an LCD.

I have words for people like you, but I don't want a ban.

I have to agree. Check out the current issue of Home Theater Mag. Shoot out of flat panels. Guess how the Pioneer Kuro Plasma did? Think LCDs beat it?

The closest competitor was Sony's new LED LCD displays?

Got to keep up with the literature. Plasmas now have a longer life than a lot of LCDs are almost as impervious to burn-in as LCDs and have better Black levels and 'more natural color'.
And as Rivrrat points out, viewing angles are phenomenal!

Just came from our local CC.......
Big fat hairy deal...10% off TV's/Computers/Electronics.
20% off Music Cd's and DVD's yeah real huge savings.

But ya wouldn't believe how picked over the place was with such a lil discount.
IF they ever go 30-40% there won't be nothing left to buy!
With 8.5% tax here the percentage wasn't diddly.

All I got was 3 Cd's and a 8GB PNY Thumb drive for my Boy for School for $22.

Liquidation sales are usually no beig deal. They just manage to whip up people into a feeding frenzy.
