I will not be near a single store on Black Friday. I would rather pay double the price than wait in lines like that. I have much better things to do with my time.

There isn't a damn thing I need to buy for XMAS. A couple of gift cards for the boys, a little something for the wife. DONE.

Those are some nice deals, but they may have to do better. A lot of people are holding on to their dimes, especially after the news that came out yesterday.

That LG 1080p 32" LCD in the BB ad looks like a potential new bedroom TV.

Do you watch movies with the 120hz activated? I have a really hard time looking at film converted to HD HandiCam.... :p

Seriously though, how do you watch movies?

There's a best buy here in Cambridge, and I did the overnight Black Friday thing ONCE. It was an experience. The cops came in on Segways, and had to break it up. . then they almost shut the whole mall down. Total madness, it was a spectacle. You would have thought they were giving away winning lottery tickets. We made the best of it. . .I always wanted to try out a silver canteen set that we got as a gift, so there we were on the sidewalk with steaming hot coffee and silver cups. One ******* thought we were easy targets, and tried to cut in front of us, which turned out to be amusing too. I think he got hooked up by the Po-Po later in the evening as well. All in all, a fun night. I take the turkey, hold the idiots please.

LMAO Bruss. That is just too funny. I have been a few times and I just shake my head at watching people elbow each other, or give someone a good hip check to get a on sale TV or DVD player....whatever. I usually went because of video games on sale that were just to hard to pass up. No one were ever going after those.

    SKsolution,

Yeah I was at CC everyone was being very patient, the doors opened and people that were sitting in their cars started walking to the front doors, people about started to riot.

No, I have the 120 turned off when watching movies. I forget what setting I have it on for the cable box, but I can watch F1 racing without noticeable pixel trails.

    Default sooo..

what exactly is the protocol for black friday? Can I expect that most best buys around Chicago will be having one? Should I call before hand to find out? Do people wait outside until the store opens at the regular time and then go ape ****?

the craziest thing I did was wait almost two days in a walmart for a PS3.. I got blazed and sold it for 1,100 so I was pretty satisfied.

I need to get on top of the deals! help an amateur out. I need amps for my system! Any clue where the best odds of success would be in store or online for that?

By the way HSU is going to be having black friday sales.. at least thats what it says on their forum.

So is this the time to pick up a 50"+ tv? I have been waiting, and everything I read says this is a great time. Will prices fall even more in the next year? Should I wait?

Hmm.. .and walmart is giving $100 gift card with a purchase of a PS3 for $399! That is awesome!

I would keep watching on the TV prices. I think that Black Friday is more marketing hype than good deals. People who have stood in line for hours are going to buy something after all that effort, so why give your best deals on that day?

I think about the 2nd or 3rd week in December when the retailers have a couple of weeks of sales data to analyze that you might see the most drastic price cuts and deals. I found a good deal and moved on it. $1000+ 1080p LCD for under $700 shipped to my door. B&M retailers locally didn't look like they were going to have any deals close. Should I of followed my own advice above ....... time will tell!

The 'deals' you're going to find on TV's are generally going to be on the lower line sets. I was going to get a Sharp from Costco but after going in and spending a significant amount of time looking at the various sets in there, I couldn't have been OK with the Sharp.

I ended up getting the Sony KDL-52XBR6 and by the time all was said/done ended up spending over twice what the Sharp would have run me.....which is fairly typical for how I tend to shop anyways.....lol........but if your goal is just cheap, you can get stuff........if you want quality, it's best to wait it out and get whatever fits in your budget.

CC has this one on sale for $1609 i think. I really enjoyed the picture, but not sure if it will fall anymore in the next year. I am not really ready for a 52" anyways gotta finish the basement still. I am probably jumping the gun, but still didn't want to pass on a super good deal.

I usually don't even leave the house to go shopping preferring instead to do all my shopping online.

Then I go out to the local malls and store and get in people's way just for the hell of it.

    Default Sony BDP350

If anybody is in the market for a pretty good blu ray player, Sears has the Sony BDP350 for 179 friday. I think I will get up to get this for my bedroom setup, then back to home and sleep I go.

There are always going to be the newest/latest things to keep the prices pretty consistent with what they are now.

Out now, but LED and Laser lit displays will be more prominent......thinner panels, different tech's, etc.......

I wasn't really even all that wanting to get a new set, but I figured I might as well get something big now and be happy enough for a while rather than continually waiting for the next best........
