Does anyone have an opinion on the new Pioneer Elite VSX-01TXH receiver. I was thinking about purchasing it for it's HD audio capabilities and was wondering if any one hear has any experience or knowledge with them.

I have the SC-07 in my setup and its a pretty darn good AVR. Awesome sound processing and it runs cool to touch with the ICEamps. Being that youre in NY, I suggest you give valueelectronics.com a call and talk to Rob. Great guy and a forum sponsor for AVS. I paid less than 1700 for my SC-07.

I was looking at the VSX just for its processor side. I dont have any use for its amp's since I am pretty much set on power (see signature).

The 01 is fantastic. Search in here under my name and find rave reviews about the 01 you will. I dig this entry level receiver for Elite. It's so much better then last years model. It now has full built in Processing. It's well rounded and would make a nice preamp. It has a nice warmth to it. I think you'll dig it.

My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time.
Thanks for the input Mantis, I think I am going to buy the 01 this weekend. As long as the wife doesn't bitch too much of course.

Hi Mantis. First time poster. I stumbled upon this thread while doing a search on the VSX01 and finally found someone that seems to really know this receiver.
I have a question for you since you seem to really know this receiver. Is the quality as good as previous Pioneer Elite receivers? My concern is that this is their lowest end in the Elite line and I worry they may have really cut some corners to get it down to this price.
I'm currently looking at either the VSX01 or the Marantz SR5003 to go with my Paradigm monitor 7's, matching center channel (CC370 I think?) and I currently use Polk RTi4's in the back. At the moment I have a 5.1 setup but will be getting 2 more speakers to complete the 7.1 in the very near future. I was thinking about RTiA1's.
With your experience would you definitely recommend the VSX01? Have you heard the Marantz SR 5003 or heard any feedback? I know Marantz is generally top quality but this is their entry-level receiver with the Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD decoders so I'm worried they may have also cut a few corners also as in maybe the DAC's or something.
Any help, information or advice would be GREATLY appreciated from anyone here.
Thank you in advance.
