    i have a 4 channel amp it is a kenwood kac-x40
it says it will put out 70watts rms x 4 @ 4 ohms do i need to set it to do that or do i just plug in my speakers to it and go?
im confused about it cause it says a bunch of other power ratings

4 ohms means at what load the amp is working at. For example, 4 ohms means a 4 ohm speaker hooked up to each channel. 2 ohms would be a pair of 4 ohm speakers being hooked up to each channel.

Pay attention only to the RMS power ratings. Peak, max and whatever else are worthless.

Set the gain on the amp to around the 10:00 to 12:00 position. No higher than the noon position.
