Never thought I'd see the day Ted gives out Cathy's standard advice. But in the end,he's spot on.A nice high current amp,a good source, and you will give up sex for awhile.Ok,maybe not that far, enjoy your new toy.

And make sure tha amp is common ground; if it's not, you'll need a special interconnect.

Wrench, I've been hearing about these lately, seems like a good price for a lot of amp.

You do not want to bridge 555's to drive SDA's. Very bad things will happen. One 555 will drive them very nicely on the cheap. I have used many Adcom's with SDA's, and for the price they are tough to beat. You can BiAmp, but you will need to attenuate the amp driving the highs. Wire Gage is not what you should really be looking at, but how good the wire is.

Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.

If you're gonna' run adcoms,,I would suggest investing in some MIT speaker cables,,as the adcoms are a tad "bright",but the MIT's will help tame it some,,at least they did for me when I had my 555's,, they are long gone,, but the MIT's remain,, good luck and have fun in your audio journey. :)

When I first rigged up my 1.2 TLs, I used two Adcom 565 mono blocks (300 wpc) with the grounds strapped together with a Parasound 1000A (125 wpc) biamping the highs. It cost me about $1100 for the three amps three years ago. I would imagine you could get them cheaper in today's market.

I've since moved up but the Adcoms and Parasound did the trick for a good while.

You might consider getting a Sunfire 300 X 2 into 8 ohms or A Sunfire Signature series amp which is 625 wpc into 8 ohms and you can use the voltage output for the woofers and the current outputs for the tweeters, these options are available on both the 300 X 2 and the Signature series. I am using the 300 X 2 myself on 1.2 tl's and cant imagine ever needing more power it doesnt even get warm at ear bleeding levels.

I have included a pic of the huge toroidial transformer in it that I stole from the Carver/Sunfire forum one look at it will tell you why this is all the amp you will ever need.

And they cant be had for anywhere from $600.00 to $900.00 that would leave you a lil left over for some MIT cables and some new music.

I'd 3rd this. Then eventually you can get a 2nd Sunfire when 300 by 2 is not enough for you!

If for some reason you decide to purchase one of these and then have to have another be aware of the fact there is 3 different models the 300 X 2 The series II 300X 2 and the Sunfire. some have the metal binding posts some dont, also they come in different sizes 17" and 19" inches so make sure you buy the one/s that will fit into your rack. At 80 amps per channel output which is more than a lot of 5 channel amps total output, 380 joules and doubling to 600 wpc at 4 ohms it's a safe bet even if you switch your speakers to a 6 or 4 ohm load. I also like the idea of having balanced and unbalanced input options.
