    Default Casey Kasem passes away

Wow another American icon passes away. Grew up listening to the top 40's years ago. What a great guy. RIP Casey...http://www.cnn.com/2014/06/15/showbiz/casey-kasem-obit/

A tragedy on so many levels. His final years, which should have been spent in peace with his loved ones instead seems like it was a sort of living hell. Casey has gone to his rest, but there is little doubt that the battle raging within his family will become an all out war. There is already talk of a wrongful death suit coming from his wife against the court system and Casey's children...

Rest in Peace Casey and thanks for all the memories... and I will pray that your family can do the same.

I'll choose to remember the man as the great DJ he was. Many fine memories of the man spinning songs from my early years.

RIP Sir, and know that your life brought many lots of joy.

When a family has to fight over whether to keep a loved one alive, and it turns into an all out war fought in public is not the way to go.

Everyone should have a durable power of attorney and a medical trust in place. While they are in sound mind and body. Otherwise greed and family infighting WILL take away any decision making from you.

If you want to be kept going on extreme medical measures say so. But if you just want to be left alone with only painkillers to limit suffering then that is your choice too. So make it today. While you still can. Doesn't matter if you are 25 or 75.

Such a historical figure. I can't ever remember a time he didn't exist. Seems like a void now that he's gone.

Kasem's adult children has the legal authority to take him off of life support if it was determined that he was merely kept alive in a vegetative state. Both Kasem's doctor and a judge agreed that taking him off of life support is the right thing to do. Kasem's current wife is merely in a caretaker role and has no legal authority to determine whether he should be left on life support or not.

I just don't see how the fight will continue after Kasem's death.

Personally, I spend many weekend mornings during my teen years listening to Casey Kasem's AT40 Countdown. It brings back a lot of good memories. In some ways, I am glad Mr. Kasem is no longer in pain.

    RIP
