    2-rti 5’s front
1 -cs 20 center not purchased yet could go to the ls series for 4 ohm
    2-lsi7 middle
    2 –vintage m&k sb2 rears
    1-dsw pro 600
The problem I have is the center and fronts are 8 ohm’s the middle and rears are 4 ohm’s. I do not have an avr yet but looking at the Denon avr3808ci. After doing some research I found out the 3808ci will not work because of the 4 ohm load. So the question I have is could I use the 3808ci as a pre amp or could I use it just to drive the 2 front and center speaker. Also if I could what would I need as an amp for the other 4 speakers. Or should I trash that idea and get something different. Any help on a setup with what I have as far as speakers go would greatly help’ thanks for all your input.

Any AMP that supports 4 ohms, I am using a Carver TFM-25, it is rated at 400wpc 4ohm.

The Denon can support the 4ohm load - but they don't advertise it - it is in the owners manual.....so long as the speakers are not too hard to drive that it overheats.
    also:
You can bi-amp the mains and still have a 7.1 system re-routing the zone 2 speaker to power the mains.
    also also:
You can use it as just a pre-amp......

Good Luck - it is a great reciever - just be patient when learning how to use it....

It may handle the load temporarily, but it will definetely shorten the life down of the Denon. You may just be able to fry an egg on top of it....

I called denon and they told me there would be no problem but i dont trust them from what i have read and i know the m&k's and the pulk's lsi7 need a lot of punch to run them if not they will not sing.

I am running LSi9's and and LSiC across the front with a 2809 and I am not having any problems with heat or clipping. I don't listen at overly load levels but loud enough that they sound good.

I can see how additional power would make them better but that is going to have to wait for awhile.
