RTi12 or LSi9 for HT?

OK, I'm in the process of building out my ded. HT and have been pondering what speakers to use in it (just concerned with LCR right now)--My RTi-12's or my LSi9's. This decision will determine what I leave in my current HT in the Family Room. I really like the RTi12s up there right now.

Let me ask this of yall--If I am crossing my system over at 80Hz and letting he sub handle everything lower (DSW uPro4K), how much of my RTi12's am I really using? Would the LSi9 be an equivalent replacement when using a sub? (I'm not talking about mixing the series.)

I realize the LSi-9's are bookshelves/monitors, --but if I'm crossing the RTi's over am I really using the woofers in them? Am I effectively making them more like floorstanding bookshelves?

I'm just wondering if I'll be able to get the same volume and impact from LSi9s' that I am currently getting from the RTi12's.

I'm also considering building the Clearwave 4CC DIY Center discussed here.
-And since most HT is really in the Center channel, will the smaller mains matter much?
-And it may be better matched to the LSi's because of the VIFA tweeters.
-I also like the idea of using the LSi9's for my new HT as I'll be able to merge my two channel rig into it easier.
-Additionally I won't have to find a replacement for the current speakers in the Family Room that I am already happy with.

...but if I'm not going to get the same impact....:(

MMADDEN28 your not happy with your CSIA6? What about using 2 csia6's? I've had both rti's and lsi's in my ht system and currently using the RTI's in the ht setup and using a pair of LSI 9's for part of my 2 channel rig.

I personally wasn't happy with the LSI's in my HT rig. I am happier with my rti 5's and 9's .

I'm happy with it, but I'm intrigued by EarlyB's new DIY super center.

I have like 4 pairs of LSi9's that I could make a HT with, but not sure if they'll be enough.

The new HT will be a smaller room than the current HT rig with the RTi's are in.
The current room is about 18x20 (just a SWAG), with Cathedral ceilings. Open to the kitchen-open to the garage hall-open stairwell to an open upstairs landing. I don't have any draperies. Its a tough cookie for acoustics. :(

I think that finally the sound is really good in the family room and I'm not really sure what I want to do in the new HT which will be like 12x18 or something with 8' ceilings (drop ceiling). And I'll likely treat it acoustically. So I'm thinking that I might not need as much oomph down there and can get away with the LSi's down there without breaking up the RTi setup upstairs.

Originally I never planned on keeping a full out HT setup in the Family room and that everything that I was buying would eventually move to the dedicated future dedicated HT. But now I'm not so sure. I've bought so much stuff since then, that its really not that much of a stretch to have two, but I didn;t want to settle on LSI for the HT unless it would be sufficient. I wasn't planning to get LSi15s or LSi25s.

Of course I'd have to get another AVR though...

--that's why I'm using them for my 2 channel-just wasn't sure if they would have enough ooomph for HT ya know?
I think I might be answering my own questions-just so many choices to make.

I might just try with the LSi9's and pick up a few surrounds, but not an LSIC for now.

My room is approximately 16x18 and they hit hard!! Just two of them. They really surprised the heck out of me when I put them in this room.....

I think you might be surprised.... Give it a try if you can.

I'm sure it will sound better with LSi's, but it won't be as loud.....IMO, the LSi9's hit hard, but not nearly as hard as the RTiA9's.

Personally I'd leave the RTi12's in the family room, and use the LSi's in the other room. The LSi's aren't as loud, but they are far more accurate, and give you better all around sound quality. If you're happy with the sound that you have in the living room with the RTi's there's no reason to move them.
