Default On-Q / Legrand Volume Controls

Has anyone had experience with the On-Q / Legrand volume controls? My house is pre-wired for sound and I need volume controls in a few of my rooms, but not quite sure what to get.

For that matter, does anyone have any suggestions on what to go with? I've looked at many different kind and they all look pretty similar in quality, but the price differences can be quite large.

How is the system set up? Do you have speaker wire running into a wall box in each room, where you are adjusting the amount of power coming to each speaker, or do you have cat5e for keypads? Most likely, you have the speaker wire running to the box, and you just need a simple volume control to turn the music up and down in the room.

Since the quality of most in-ceiling/in-wall multiroom systems is not focused on sound quality, the quality of volume control won't make that much of a difference. The OnQ ones are fine for most applications.

Yes, in each room I have the speaker wire running to where the volume control will be. In my living room I'm running a pair of RTiA7's up front, a TC265i for the center and a pair of TC80i's for the surrounds. The volume control will be on the TC80i's, since that was the way it was wired when I purchased the house. My other option would be to bypass the volume control all together and run new wires to the surrounds, which may be a pain in the ass. The other volume controls would be in other rooms and outdoors, so they wouldn't affect the main listening area.

Then you shouldn't have to use a volume control at all, if you want to use the TC80i's for surrounds. Just "splice" the wires together in the box, and put a blank wall plate over the existing box in the wall. This is assuming all of the wires lead to the same head end as all the other wires in the surround sound.
