    Default Csi3 "Surgery"

I have a Csi3 center channel and with it I get frequency spikes and at times harsh sound from the tweeter. I really do like this speaker though because it has a great frequency response and the midranges give great sound. Is there anyway I can swap out the tweeter? If I can, can I do it without voiding the warranty?

I believe you can get replacement tweeters direct from Polk. You'd probably be best off staying with the same tweeter. You'd probably void the warranty if you swapped in a non-original tweeter. Not positive on that though.

Does your AVR have an EQ or some kind of room acoustic set-up feature?
I had a CSi3 and loved it. No harsh sound at all from that tweet when my Pioneer used the room EQ.

Well it has Audyessy but I opted to configure everything myself. Should I give the Audyessy a shot?

Yeah...I'd try audyssey. It worked great for me. I had to adjust my sub level a little bit after I ran it...but I think it nailed the setup about dead on other than that.

There shouldn't be anything wrong with the speaker...I've never heard of any problems with them before.

Ok, well I'll give it a shot. And overall the speaker is good except for the few times where dialouge is distorted. I mean it only happens in less than 5% of the dialouge per movie but 1% would still be enough for me to try to find a solution. It did it with my old Pioneer AR, so who knows hopefully the Audyessy should help. Cheers

Do you have it turned up excessively loud? I've never heard of anyone having problems like this with a CSi3. The frequency response on those is rated up to 25khz IIRC...so it shouldn't be spiking under reasonable listening levels I wouldn't think. Might be time to look into a CSi5/CSi A6.

Nope, I get the spikes all all volumes and I'm not pumping a ridiculous amount of wattage into it either (80w). I read a ton of reviews before I bought it and nothing was ever said about any kind of spikes or distortion at all. I only got it a couple of months ago so I don't know if I'd turn right around and buy another, plus I'll of course give the Audyessy a shot before I drop 3 or 4 hundred bucks on another speaker.
