Default Choosing the best speaker wire

Hello, I am currently moving so I am going to be setting up my system again so its the perfect time to make upgrades. I was using some speaker wire from ace hardware (16ga) and I now want to upgrade to something of a higher quality. The longest run I have to make is 30ft max (running it up into the ceiling) and that will be to a set of Monitor 7's in the rear. Ive been looking at Monster XPHP and you can get it off ebay for about $90 shipped in a 100ft roll otherwise for the same roll it is $100 from best buy. Is that going to be a good wire to run a high level into my sub, and then to my front speakers which are rt1000i's? Good for longer distances without loosing signal? Is it overkill? I am open to opinions and recommendations, I just want real opinions, not ones from someone trying to make a sale at an electronics store. Also, are banna plugs a good idea or do you have to get expensive ones to keep the same quality as just running the wire through the binding post? Thanks.

~M~ sucks. You can do much better for the money. Nanners are handy. I like Audio Quest. Many here like Blue jeans, and Signal Cable too.

Ok, Im running a yamaha htr5840 reciever. Are any of those going to be significantly better than another or am I better off going for the best priced one? Is a 16 gauge wire still ok to work with as well or should I go with 14 gauge? Thanks.

Look at the Beldon wire from Blue Jeans Cables. Significantly better than the generic Mudster speaker wire you are referencing.

At the very least, get 12 guage copper stranded from the hardware store, and as others mentioned, look at anything other than the M word.

I would check into AQ type 2 for longer runs of cheap wire. Also the Type 4 is an excellent cable for shorter runs. Look for cables used. People do move up the food chain. I am not doing speaker cables for now.
    Thanks

I did for a little while, but they worked great in some systems, but were lacking lower end bass in others. Those were silver plated stranded cables. I still use mine on the highs:)
