I haven't used these but have you heard that there is now a Lazyboy chair that has a Buttkicker installed into it with a control on the arm (remote?).
So you can order a Lazyboy that will earthquake your butt. Buttkickers are quite powerful and get down to 5hz.

I actually have a buttkicker. It is probably the same thing as the one you have found. The only difference is the shape of mine. It is longer, and is made to connect to an office chair. I use mine in my sim racing, video game setup. It works pretty decent, it really adds to the realism of games. If you run over the apron on the side of the track, it vibrates my whole chair, or if you give a car full throttle , you can feel the engine vibrating.
I have never tried it in my home theater, but it would probably work well with explosions, and such. I really doubt that one at the 50$ price range would work well with a sofa, or soft chair though. Buttkicker makes larger models that run in the 500$ range that will vibrate your entire floor. But for 35$ you could give it a try, and not be out that much if it doesn't work well.
Always wanted a butt-kicker but I'd like to find a couple subs to rumble the chairs instead.
But then you have to add the cost of an amp, plus 1 isn't that powerful. I have felt some Auras before, there were 2 on either end of a sofa being powered by a cheap integrated, added something nice but not that impressive. They don't go that deep, so if you have a capable sub they may not add much to the experience.
The buttkicker on the other hand should be able to be had for ~$300 with amp and goes down to 5hz. This adds significantly to the movie watching experience no matter the sub you have. I have a relatively nice SVS that goes down to 16hz strong and the buttkicker is a big improvement.
