Need advice, at a crossroad...

Hello, I have a pair of SDA 1c in almost mint condition. I am considering doing the cap upgrade ($500!) and wanted to get some input. I am also considering selling the SDAs and getting some KEF 104/2. Has anyone here every had any experience with the KEFs? Would you give up your SDAs for them, are they really that good? Thank you in advance for any advice.

HELL no Tom! HELL no. I have a pair of speakers sitting here that is close to 5K in price. They are going on the back burner so that I can set up the 1C's on an all tubed setup. IMO, if you sell them you will regret it. We even have an [no name *clears throat* G.D. no name] member here that has sold a pair of 1C's 4 times. He just purchased another pair of 1C's and is planning on doing the same thing you are doing [again], in time so will I. So far I just have the upgraded tweets but the x-over upgrades are-a-comin'.

Upgrade components before you upgrade the speaker, that's my advice.

I'm the guy who is on his 5th and final set of 1C's,,I've got them in an all tube rig,and they have never sounded so good to my ears.Just finished the crossovers with mills and sonicaps. RDO's are next,then I'm done,,oh yeah,,I dynamated the baskets as well. How do they sound,, like never before,,ans I'm seriously thinking about selling off some of my other speakers for something different,, but I'll always have a pair od SDA's---good luck.
