My new set up what are your thoughts?

Hi all, I need some advice and this looks like the place to get it. I am soon hooking all this up in my 18 by 18 entertainment room.I have new set of
RTIA1's for fronts and I have a new RM10 5.1 set including the PSW10 sub to complte the 7.1 set up. I have run RG6 cable through the wall for the sub and have the proper adapters installed on the RG6 cable.I also have a Y cable for the sub if necessary. All my speaker wires are run through the walls. RTIA1's will be on good stands in front at proper seated height. 2 -RM10s for surrounds on solid floating wall shelves at ear height when standing.
2 -RM10's for rear surrounds that are already installed with brackets hanging from ceiling at either side of my bar that also happens to be center to my listening position. I will be powering this set up with a new Pioneer 1018 HT receiver rated 110 amps continous. I have all the above here, I am just waiting for the LG 50PG30 Plasma to arrive in 2 days. Any ideas on settings to begin with considering the Polk speakers. What would you set the speaker settings to on this receiver for a starting point. All thoughts and advice are welcome thanks in advance.

sounds like a decent set-up so far, but I would consider front l/r speakers with a bit more presence, like perhaps the RTia5 and then use the a1's for the side effect channels...

Just my opinion, but on the surface of it a good start...

Thanks for the advice on getting new speakers even though I have not yet heard what I just bought and installed. My question more less was what should I set the Pioneer 1018 at in regards to speaker size and maybe a few thoughts on sub levels etc. knowing what speakers I have. What would YOUR starting points be at. I am new to HT and now that I have my 50 inch plasma I am about finished building the entertainment unit that will have the tv and components in/on it so lift off will happen in a week or 2. I made custom stands for the RTIA1's which the tops are cut the in the same size and pattern as the shape of the speaker and the base is same shape only 2 inches larger, they are very nice. I custom built BTEC type brackets to fit standard electrical box solid wall plates and attached articulating brackets to them for the RM 10 side surrounds these also turned out very nice. All speakers are wired and waiting for power from the 1018 to be hooked up soon. Any tips or starting points on settings??????

Sounds like a very clean install!! The most widely used setting for speakers, regardless of size is to set them to small with the crossover setting at around 80hz. This is simply a starting point, but many find it to work the best.

I would seriously consider at least changing the center to a CSiA4 if you're running the RTiA1's for your fronts. It'll balance out your front soundstage and you're front will be timbre matched. If you're worried about setup levels, incest in a SPL meter and you'll be able to set up all your speakers to the same level. Very simple to setup. As the others pointed out, set everything to small, but with your setup, you're probably going to have to set your crossover a little higher than 80Hz for the sub.

Yah what he said; and sell me your RM202 (center); I've been looking for that speaker for the last several months.

Just kidding (not really), but I do agree; If you're using the RTi A1s (great choice btw), then I'd recommend matching up the front sound stage with the CSi A4. It's not as important if your surrounds and rear surrounds match up as they will not be doing the majority of the work. I have a very similar set up where i have RTi8s and a (now) CSi5 up front and then am using RM101s for surrounds. Works great.

Thanks all for the tips I will keep my eyes open for the CSi A4 on sale some time. As for the SPL, I am hoping that the Pioneer MCAC auto set up works as good as is boasted by owners who have posted about what a great amp they think it is. We shall see...
