Default Experience with LONG balanced IC's??

I am already using balanced IC's everywhere; I want to move my rack to a side of the room, just leaving a small stand with the amp between the speakers and the front wall. This would require using approx. 15 ft IC's.

Has anyone done this and confirmed that there's no sound degradation? I know that in theory this would not be a problem using balanced, but they would not be cheap and would like to hear from someone that had some experience.

It all depends entirely on your equipment, setup, and any noise sources. Many folks can run unbalanced that distance with no issues, while others must used balanced to avoid spurious noise from multiple sources. The only way to know for sure is to try it.

I ran 5 14' unbalanced cables from a pre/pro to a amp rack and never experienced any issues.

Longest balanced run I have is 10'. No issues with noise or artifacts that I can detect in my 2ch setup

Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

Balanced are made for long runs. I've done pro jobs with 100-200 foot runs with snakes that have 24 gauge pairs in them.

Yep, the advantage of the differential signal and full separate shield is immunity to noise.

Same here. I switched some equipment around on my last set-up (ATI 5-channel amp, Sony ES pre/pro) and moved the amp to a rack about 15 feet out. Absolutely no change whatsoever (and they were basic Esoteric IC's - nothing special).
