Default Mids on M5's and 7's.

The mid on one of my Monitor 7's stopped playing for no apparent reason. I have a spare from a Monitor 5. Are these inter changeable? Thanks.

I have a parts list somewhere, but I think I gave that computer away to my son.

According to the schematics: http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38755 , both the Monitor 5's (all versions) and Monitor 7's (all versions) use the MW6502. Therefore, you should be good.

True. You should check the model number stamped on the driver that you are replacing. Some things change mid stream that may not have been captured in the posted schematics.

Thanks will do. Any thoughts on why the mid would play one day and not the next?

The 5's and 7's both had 6502 mids. The 7 wasn't working because the magnet had come out of the cone....I then remembered one of the CATS!! had knocked it over. I reinserted the magnet...no luck.

I then put in the good mid from the 5 and sound! But in the sound test, the 6502 has a different sound from the one in the 7. They were made 2 years apart.

My question is if this--- is this an issue with different mids, or if there is something else damaged in the 7 that might be changing the sound. I looked at the electronics and everything appears to be in order. I ask because I can order new mids, but that won't help if I damaged some of the electronics in the speaker. Thanks for any help on this.

I really liked these 7s as rears on the HT.

    Mike
