    Default pioneer sc05 > psw450

Does anyone know if the sub out on the pioneer sc05 is a line level output, of if it's an LFE output? And does the PSW450 have a mono in? Or should I run a splitter, if using the line in inputs?

I looked through the PSW450 manual, but can't tell from that if there's a mono in or not. And I've looked through the pioneer manual, which says to run the sub out to the line in. But if that's if I can use it as an LFE out, then wouldn't that be better, as it will bypass the crossover knob on the sub and let the receiver manage the bass?

    TIA

Yes the subout is the LFE. Line level inputs are your R/L preouts that would be used in the case of an external amp. If this sub is more for music, then you can run a pair of RCA R/L cables to the line level inputs on the sub. A mono in to the sub would be the LFE, which you would use more for HT.
There's 3 different methods available with that sub. YOU will have to make the determination which is best.

What kind of speakers have you got, manyway?

That's where it gets a bit confusing. The sub out is in the pre-out section. That and the fact that the manual indicates running the sub out to the line inputs on the sub.

Right. You can run either your front R/L preouts of the SC-05 to the R/L input's on the sub OR you can run the SUBOUT to the LFE in on the sub.
It depends on whether you listen to more music, or HT applications.

If you run the front R/L out's to the sub, that would give you more bass tones when listening to music.
If your more into HT, then just run the 'subout' with a single rca cable to the LFE in on the sub.

BTW, YES the SC-O5 manual does seem like it was written by NASA:D

Yes, I actually read the thread on hooking up the PSW10 and get it now. What was throwing me was where the PSW450 says "unfiltered" on the LFE in. I thought that meant it wanted an unfiltered output from the receiver. That and the fact that the manual says to run the sub out to the line in on the sub. Thanks for the help.
