Yep. Crazy as hell. Awesome looking speakers, though.

If you had bass issues with the D2's, will the supertowers resolve that dilemma?

no, the super towers use four midbasses instead of 1 with two dedicated bass drivers.

It will have SLIGHTLY deeper response than my 7u with even better midrange - better height.

    That is my expectation.

    So we shall see!

Yeah, I have thirsted for those bad boys since I got my 7u --- looking back on it, I definitely should have got them instead of the D2, 100%

I like the fact that I will be the only person on earth with the Super Towers in that new style enclosure.... very cool!

Thanks guys! and yes! I am a madman. - I am really going to step it up this year I think, heading in the right direction so far I think.

I can't wait to hear your impressions about these Super Towers and how they do with bass in your room. I'm having problems with too much bass over-loading my listening room with my Tyler Acoustics Signature System. These are powerful speakers and they need LOTS of room to breath to do them justice.

Those are the Seas Millenium(sp) tweeters...

    Thanks for the comments

And if you look back - lord, years ago on my previous comments of the "perfect" mains - and then look at me buying D2's it makes no sense. I pretty much feel that 7" or so bass drivers are pretty useless. They can't do what a larger bass driver can do and they do not really offer much else other than deeper bass.

Now I am sure yours are awesome - but to me, mains should have midbasses and lots* of them. The more mids - the better... and when I bought my 7u- I had always said the Super Tower would be my dream speaker...

I am 110% positive the Super Tower will work out perfect with my gear and my room... and the bass should not be an issue - I would be very surprised if that were the case.

Like the Signature system and the D2, both of those dig well below 30hz -- where asthe 7u and Super Towers are centered more around 37-35 and will not load up like crazy in my room like the D2 did with that rear ported enclosure.

    Should be quite nice.

I would love to hear the Signature towers you have -- those sealed top cabinets crossed higher have gotta have stellar midrange properties.

Congrats Trey. These actually look like speakers ;)
I suspect you'll like the Millenium better than the Revelator.

    thanks guys!

hahahahaha -- yeah, the D2 is not quite as sexy as the Super Towers. It is more like robo cop than anything.

Yeah, alot of people have told me the Milenium tweet is a good jump over the revelator.

I love a good tweeter, so thats ok ;)

I had no idea the Super Towers were sooo tall...

I kid you not - these are almost 6 feet tall...

Probally about the same height as a 1.2TL

Massive in every way... -- should be fun

    Without tilts...

Those tweeters are way* above my ears and I lose alot of detail...

I used about 1/8" of forward tilt and it brought it out to what I felt was how it was supposed to sound... the pictures do not reflect this tilt - but tilt more than 1/4" - which was way to much and confused the soundstaging..

I have them playing now and they are so much better than the 7u it is not even funny...

Just take 7u performance and triple+ it man.. it is surreal just how "large" these speakers sound...

And they are not even broken in yet.

    Thanks Steve!

I can envision Trey's newest audiophile tweak. A kiddie booster seat for the sweet spot.

    hahah

Nah - the tilt forwards is working great!

I had a few friends over last night, and one of them had heard my system previously ---

One of the things he mentioned, (he is big into more studio stuff) is how much "larger" the setup sounds -- particularly in height. The Super tower's midbasses move a fraction of what the 7u's did -- which makes for a very interesting presentation. I do not seem to get as much bass output -- but lower extention with far more control...

The clarity present is pretty amazing - at higher volumes, I do get blurring in the staging due to my room size I am sure - just like past, smaller systems. But nothing I cant get over or try to lessen with room treatments later on.

All in all - the Seas tweeter seems to be far cleaner and smoother than the Revelator with a lot more depth --

For instance, I am listening to Ben harper and can easilly hear him bending the strings on the acoustic -- scraping against the fret board and frets...

Needless to say - I am extremely happy... this has been the system I wanted to build since I first started shopping for my 7u's 2-3 years ago!
