    Default APC AV H15 question

I just purchased this and plugged it in. I'm not anywhere close to an electrician and was hoping you guys could just chime in.

So voltage seems fine after a few hours at 118 or 119 consistently
With everything on - TV/Receiver/Amp/preamp/cable box about 4.5 amps

Power display shows 510-530VA and 33%

    Does all this seam reasonable?

    Thanks

I would say that it is fine. Mine pulls around 3.8-4 amps, but I probably dont have the system you do. Also, mine reads around 121-123 volts.

    Thanks,

Its not clear, at least to me what the power display is referring to with the 33%

Power display shows 510-530VA and 33%

Is this the capacity of the unit or from the wall or something else?

My guess is it is used amps (draw) versus the 15 amps available from the wall outlet (or the APC box rating (H15). That would be 15/4.5 = 3. You are roughly at 33% of the available current before the breaker trips. The 510 - 530VA range are amps X volts (4.5 X 118/119). Not sure if the display is infinitely variable or just shows preset ranges.

I have the J-10 unit; the 33% is the max capacity of the unit. Crank it up and watch the percentage in use go up... ;)

The sound might be improved with this unit in place. When I added a Panamax M5300-EX into my HT the noise floor was much lower, and there was a "sparkle" that I didn't hear before. It also got rid of annoying buzz that was occurring. I attribute this to the clean power that it delivered versus the nasty 125v that comes into the house.

Moving the Panamax into the 2 channel system and installing an H15 into the HT didn't seem to change anything and I think it will protect the components a little better since it's trimming the voltage a bit.
