Finally got the $$$ to do a system in my boat, but I am struggling with the sub configuration. I initially was going to go with a single MM1240DVC in a sealed enclosure driven by a PA600.1 Amp. A local guy who seems to know what he is talking about reccomended I go with 2 of them in a ported box because of the open air issues in a boat. Would love to know your opinions on that subject if you are familiar with boat installs.
So if we assume I am going with a dual MM1240 setup, I am thinking one of the following configurations, what do you think?
2 MM1240 SVC in parallel (2 ohm) driven by a PA1200.1 (400 to each sub right?)
or
2 MM1240 DVC in parallel (1 ohm) driven by a PA600.1 (300 to each sub right?)
Am I getting what i need to drive the subs out of the amp (Based on the RMS/.75 rule I think I am underpowered)? The guy at the local shop also said he likes to run a higher power amp at 2 ohm to avoid heat issues with 1 ohm, so was thinking the 2 DVC's and PA1200.1 but they cannot be wired for 2 ohm can they?
Any other configuration/reccomendations are welcome, but I would like to stick with Polk :)
Will be going with 4 MM651's in the tower with a PA500.4 amp and 4 DB651's in the interior without an amp. Can't wait to wakeboard to my favorites!
