SDA 1 mod help

Hi everyone.

I have an early pair of SDA 1 speakers. They have the SL1000 tweeters I believe. I just upgraded my SDA 1c speakers with new tweeters and wanted to put the SL2000 tweeters in my SDA 1s.

I took out the 1000s and put the 2000s in the place expecting to just screw them in, and they holes are a little off. If I drilled new ones in the place of the 2000s locations, they seem that they would intersect just slightly with the original holes.

Do I fill the old holes in and drill new ones? Do I slide the tweeters over just a bit and drill new holes? Any help or anyone every done this?

Not sure you will be pleased with the result. If you really want to upgrade those SDA 1's, find a pair of old Peerless tweets. They will fit in the exact same mounts as the SL1000 and the crossover match will be better.

Is it even worth it to upgrade to the peerless? Should i just be happy with the SL1000s and maybe do an x-over upgrade?

Is there anyone out there with a surplus of peerless tweets? What are our other options nowadays?

Forget the SL2000's, forget the Peerless (way overrated), get the RD0-1094-1's. You'll still have to enlarge the opening and relocate the screw holes, but well worth it.
