Head Unit

I am looking to purchase a new head unit. I can spend around 500 on it. I am currently running an old alpine deck and like it a lot it is just startin to go though. I have 3 JL audio amps and momo comps and subs. Any help would be great. I would really like a head unit without an internal amp.

well.... for a few weeks there i had been all hepped up on that pioneer deh-p7400 because it played mp3's and had soem nice toys and did everything my older alpine does and more.

then i saw the new alpine cda 9815 and my whole mind changed -- if i hadda buy a deck today -- that'd be it... im almost hoping my 7864 breaks...lol.

my favorite 3 brands of radios are alpine, eclipse, and pioneer
chances are if its not one of those 3 brands...you probably couldve got something better

the 9815 is what i would do with
totally awesome radio
you can even go their website and burn information thats custom to your car and put it in the radio and itll save it for you
but im pretty sure it does have an internal amp
its hard to find them now that dont
the other pioneer one he was talking about is cheaper though
but it doesnt have all the cool accessories

pricey but on paper is awesome

the pioneer premier is frickin nice -- i mean for christ sake its got digitally adjustable BBE... more more can a man ask for. Thats the pio i wanted to replace my alpine -- then i saw the 800 dollar price tag and started lookin at the 7400.

The other heads I was talking about were probably Nakamichi. I've only seen 2 personally... they really are SQ decks... and they are priced like it too. If you can afford the alpine F1status... then u can afford Nak...

the thing is though, like most upper end SQ decks... features are very lite... there isnt' much internal processing, not many toys at all... its expected the user is going to have outboard EQ's and Xovers usually.

the emphasis on the deck quality is usually on laser / tracking precision, signal to noise ratio, often a copper chassis, and other such stuff like that.

honestly i think alpine and pioneer make enough good decks between them to keep us non-multi millionaire / non-want to buy 500 bucks in outboard processing types happy.

what about the alpine 7995 iit has no internal amp and a lot of features and is getting cheaper
