Default Need advice for Audio settings and Sub use with Lsi15's

    Hello I am a new owner of Lsi15's, LsiC and 4 x Lsifx's
I would appreciate some advice on audio settings and sub use for 2 channel listening.
I am wondering how many Lsi15 owners use a sub and why ? I have read that one of the short falls of Lsi15's can be the LF sound ?
Do you listen with Pure Audio or in stereo ? and with what crossover frequencies and if this has an effect on 2 channel other than pure audio ?
I have tried alot of settings with mixed results and I would like to know what has worked out best for other owners.
    Using Onkyo 875, Nad t973, Marantz sa8003, 2 x Yamaha YST1500 subs.
Plan on installing acoustic panels and bass traps, speakers 2ft from walls.
    Appreciate your comments
    Regards John

I have issues with low frequencies in my room. (the rooms fault, not the speakers) Due to that - I cross over my LSi's at 80hz for home theater and for 2 channel listening.

If my room was better, I would not use a sub at all for 2 channel and would cross over my movies at 60hz.

    Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
    Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
    Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
    Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
    Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms)

I only use my sub for hardcore action movies. Music, either 2 channel or SACD surround, is with the sub turned off. One point is the music is classical. If I were playing RAP I might turn the sub on as an adjunct to the LSi15s. AVR settings are moot since all speakers are set to large, sub is set to NO, and the sub is driven off the front pre-amp outputs. On the other hand, I rarely listen to music anymore in the HT room since the 2 channel system in the living room is working fine.

    Thanks for your replys
I am finding speaker placement is pretty crucial for my room at least.
I was a bit blown away by the difference in sound once I had taken off the rubber feet and let the spikes go through the carpet to the concrete. The sound improved dramaticly and I can really feel the base in my chest(sometimes feels as though I have to much base) with certain music especially DIRE STRAITS BIArms SACD.
When listening in PureA mode I feel at certain times the base can be a bit loose/muddy ? but I think acoustic treatment may help alot with this.
Its funny how good sound is infectious, the purpose of my setup was originally for HT use but I find myself listening to alot more music. I intend on integrating the Marantz PM8003 2 channel amp with HTbypass into my system so that should also help with music.

Often sloppy bass can be taken care of by placement, room treatments or a better amplifier (to better control the woofer). That being said - deep bass is the LSi15's weakness (compared to everything else and taking its size into consideration)

I use multiple subs with two different LSi setups that I have, but I am a basshead who likes lots of bass. I found that the PSW1000's can be set up to blend nicely with the LSi15 and 25 woofers. Even the PSW505's aren't bad in that respect too, but the front controls on the PSW1000's make it easy to adjust the volumes to suit the music being played.

I normally stick to the THX recommendation of 80Hz. I've tried other settings, but the 80Hz typically works fine for me.

When I constructed my ht room I only installed sub cables at the front wall so I have just been moving the subs around this front section toeing them in at different directions and angles.
I do have a cavity down all walls so I intend on trying some of the known methods of sub positioning once I get a spare long sub cable.
