    Default SNP (Snap, Crackle, Pop)

I keep getting some SNP ever since I hooked up my Outlaw Audio Model 990 to my speaker rig. Has anyone experienced this or know what might be the cause?

It seems to be especially harsh the moment the preamp turns on or comes back from standby and goes away after a while of playing music, but it's kind of annoying...

Just to update, I started hearing it again after I muted it for around 10-20 minutes and started playing again.

I've only experienced it in a different way.

The amp would randomly cause static that would come and go randomly. Turned out to be a bad resistor in the input stage.

Your problem sounds very much different.

Disconnect all digital inputs then see if the problem persists. The try just one set of analog inputs.

I think Grimster had something like this, or either a hum, not sure. Shoot him a PM. Could be amp though if there is one in the setup, what type of cables are you using?

I would also try different inputs. If the noise is consistent across all inputs I'd then give Outlaw a call. Better to get advice from the people that know the circuit, instead of playing a guessing game with something you're not too familiar with.

Hmm... But it's a digital input. Optical. Can that make it crackle?

Crackling can be MANY things. As I said, no use in playing a guessing game... give Outlaw a call on Monday.

    Lol. Indeed. Very funny.

Also, it seems to have gone away before Monday... Lol. I have not experienced it at all since I last posted in this thread. Strange....?

What cables and or gear have you moved during this time?

Nothing at all. Since I've had the 990, it's been like this:

Computer via optical to 990 via Ben's IC to Outlaw M2200 via Belkins Speaker Wire to Ascend Acoustics CMT 340SE.

Hmmm, have you been running the gear more often lately by chance?

Yes, I have. I mean, I've only had it for a few days now. I couldn't really use it much more than I have been. Lol. By default of having owned it longer, I have been using it more.
