    Default I miss ~J~

~J~ and I have had our differences, but he did a great job here. I wish he were here to help clean the Polk forum up. A lot of people that have come on board that think this place is a joke. I don't know the reasons why he isn't here, but I wish he were here.
    Ben
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks
    Ben

I agree Ben, he did a good job. That being said, perhaps give the new person time to get a handle on this place. But, one thing is for sure, there sure seems to be a lot more trash around here since he left. I mean A LOT.

I am sure a lot of you have sore neck muscles too.....shaking your head side to side mumbling WTF will do that.

J has been sorely missed , with the last couple of days really highlighting that fact.

Wonder why they dont give some regulars here moderator privileges? I think there are plenty of us on here that have been around enough and wouldnt take advantage of it. Id be happy to mod the car side - I check it everyday anyway. Wouldnt be hard to clean out the "Free Ipod" threads while Im there.

Why.....he has nothing to do with moderating this board.

I thought that would be a good idea too Aaron.. having a few mods who participate more often in here would be a good idea IMHO.

A spam email being missed from time to time, or lasting more than a few hours is hardly a platform for pain and suffering. You can throw the additional moderator idea out the car window. Also, asking who Patricks' boss is won't get you much love from his side....just FYI Ben.

Justin did do a good job and Patrick IS doing a good job. Just because there are some people who post controversial / stupid stuff doesn't mean he isn't doing his job. He probably has lots of better things to do than babysit this forum 24/7. I am sure it will get taken care of in due time. Half the time if we all didn't respond and bump these threads to the top they would just die. IMO, we are as guilty as the OP's in some cases.

This place has been, is and will continue to be one of the best internet forums out there. This behavior is the nature of internet forums, like it or not. Give the guy a chance to get his feet wet. I will continue to help the noobs with what I can that are looking for help; I will continue to ignore the jackasses trying to start trouble.

Hey, I'm just a slightly seasoned n00b, really, but I agree with this 100%. Justin did do a good job. Patrick does do a good job. Trolls like Seaf@rt have been fed by the bucketload.

Speakertweeker is a bit different. I actually suspect he may have been drunk or something, but when he started that thread about Gebby, that was totally unacceptable, I reported my first non-spam post ever, said so in the thread, and ignored the subsequent insults that were thrown at me: it was gone within hours. Others have been trying to steer him in the right direction with good advice.

I actually do get the impression that there is a lot of silent moderation that we don't always see or know about, just like that thread that doro may have deleted today. It may be time for some mea culpa nonetheless: the more argumentative threads recently have been totally fed by existing members IMO. Many of the current trolls are just annoying, not threatening or especially rude, but they are being fed! Being annoying to other members that refuse to ignore you may not really be an "offense" that merits lost time and effort on the part of the moderators just because we say so and just because we don't like being annoyed by new members that we refuse to ignore.

Thank you Justin, for all that you did. Thank you, existing moderators for all that you do. Thank you Club Polk, and all your members, for being the unique place that you are today.

    Guys
The simple solution has been there ALL THE TIME. Ignore them; let them dig their own grave, or fade into the sunset.

Time and time again, I see seasoned members get baited right into a bad situation--it's damn embarrassing. Rise above it. They're dip****s, nothing more, and if ignored they will leave--OR finally push the limits into the ban zone when they find they can't get a rise out of anyone.

The reason Justin and Patrick have a hard time ridding us of the trolls is because sooner or later a Polk "regular" will go off. Now their hands are tied---if the ban the troll, they gotta ban you too. Come on folk's, this is NOT rocket science.

Patrick is doing a fine job, especially considering that the post-Christmas influx this year seemed to be EXTRA .... "special".

And the best thing to do is ignore, let the thread fade away, and report if the poster goes way over the top.
That's a lot easier said than done sometimes :o but it can be done.

Hehe, maybe they ought to. A "special" chat room for those folks that want to abuse the rules of the forum. That way, they can read the posts all over the forum, but only be allowed to post in the "special" place.

    That's actually a great idea!

Default Club Polk and Everyone is Doing Great!

Even though I am a newb here, I don't see much changes or problems here.

Justin did Great and he's missed but circumstances changes so get use to it.

Patrick who seems to handle several tasks including the forum moderation is doing Great and I think he has plenty of things to take care of besides forum moderation.

Doro is doing a fine job helping clean out the crap threads in the Forum.

I think CP and everyone is doing just fine. :)

The ignore list idea mentioned above is a good solution to this problem. And the master of sticking to it is George Grand. Don't know him...but I know once you're on his list...it is OVER...done....finished. I think he's on to something there; one would do well to follow his example.
