I experienced the exact same changes in sound when I covered the inside of my Jolida CDP with dynamat.

A very nice and cheap tweak if you ask me. Fun and easy to do..

I have used Dynamat Extreme on my Arcam CD72 CDP my Anthem PRE2L tube pre-amp and all baskets on my drivers and passives in my SRSII's and SDA2a's. An excellent low cost tweak/upgrade.

extreme is very thick , Ithink you'll run into problems with the thicker matieral. but you may not. I know in my case I would have been hitting against the transport if I had used thicker stuff.

Dynamat will not and cannot remove jitter. Jitter is a time based issue and has nothing to do with vibration. If one wants to address jitter issues, you have to upgrade the clock.

Vibration issues is what applying Dynamat helps to control. Do not use regular Dynamat, only Dynamat Extreme.

Of course. Vibration can be an issue with just about any piece of audio gear.

Thanks I just didnt want to try something that might not work for a certain peice of equipment. I have an older dvd player that is out of warranty I think ill give it a try on. Now that I think about it I guess the disc spinning could create vibration.

What one is trying to do is keep vibration created by the music/movie playing out of the piece. It's basically the same principle as using isolation points/feet under a piece of gear only instead of trying to prevent vibration from transferring from the rack/table/stand to the piece, you are trying to keep vibrations in the air from transferring into the piece.

Would you say it is more effective to do so internally then externally by means of rubber feet?

    Thanks

Well, each serves a different purpose, but I guess I'd have to go with the internal over the external as most of the better gear come with decent footers to begin with.
