Question about TSi300

Still doing my homework........but can't determine if the TSi300 is compatable with the CSi3 center. I understand from some that the RTi sereis is timbre matched, but wanted to know if the TSi series is as well. I bought the CSi3 last week, and now looking for the mains.

The TSi line is all timbre matched. From what I've been told and the specs, it should work fine with the 300's. Based off the specs it really looks to be the older model of the CS10 which I have. Getting the deal at NewEgg?

The CSi3 is timbre matched to the RTi series, not the TSi series. It's the older version of the CSiA4, not the CS10.

Had not looked at NewEgg. I just noticed the following quote from the CSi3 product overview data:

"Timbre-matched to fit into any Polk Audio home theater or multi-channel music system for a more realistic, more seamless surround sound environment."

This would lead me to believe that the CSi3 is timbre matched to the TSi series as well as the RTi series. I'm just asking if anyone can verify this for me.

You could use it with any series of speakers that you want, but the CSi series center channels are part of the RTi series, which is what they're timbre matched to. The RTi series is their upper middle class line, where as the TSi series is their more entry level series. You'd do best to stick within the same series.

The RTi series and TSi series use different drivers, so they aren't truly timbre matched.

Curt: Thanks for the clarification. I'll pass on the TSi300. BestBuy has a pair listed on e-Bay. Right now the price is right for the right buyer.

There are plenty of deals to be had on the RTi series these days, now that they've released the RTi A series. Keep in mind that any of the speakers from the RTi A series will also be a great match for your CSi3. There are very few differences between the RTi's and the RTi A's. They use the same drivers, but use a slightly different cabinet design. They all match up just fine though.

Rti tweeters have a bit more detail and can handle more power without getting fried. They are a tad more forward than their lower priced brother in the TSI series. If you're a HT man...then Rti-s are a good choice. But personally I would not go below the RTI-A7s and preferably the A-9s which I find to be more musical--if that's important.

The A-5s vs. the M70s are too close in price and there are trade-offs. The highs you get with a 5s are offset by the greater, fuller range of sound that (I) think the M70s (500s) put out. That's why I suggest you go up a level if you can.

The CS10 is the newer version of the CS2 center channel from the newer Monitor series, which was replaced by the TSi series.
