    Default 400.00 for SDA 1's

Is 400.00 a good price for a pair of well kept SDA1's?

It doesn't say. the tweets are side by side across the top. The ad just says SDA-1.

    Thanks.

If the tweets are side by side they are either 1's or 1a's, most likely. 1's are older and have the sl1000 tweeters witht he metal plate and the 1a's have the sl2000 tweeter with the black plastic plate. Or they could be 1b's.

    1's or 1A's. 1B tweeters are vertical.

The 1B's & 1C's are basically almost the same speakers

    The 1B's use (8) MW6509's & the 1C's use (4) Mw6511's & (4) MW6510's

The tweeters are the same, SL2000's

    I can't remember but I think the 1B's are Blade/Blade ? and All the 1C's are Pin/Blade

Great. Would 400.00 be ok if in good condition? Or should I wait for something else?

Do the 1's with the side by side tweeters have the dimensional tweeter? If so, are those the ones he'd want? Or maybe wait for something better?
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

DO NOT BUY THEM $400.00 is out of line. You can get SDA2a's or b's for less than that. And they will sound better and far easier to moddify also less expensive to mod.

They look nice but I have to agree with NJPolker

Don't do it, the SDA technology wasn't quite there when they built those.

If you have cash to burn then offer him $250

I think 250 is a fair price for them. Don't worry about the tweeters, I just purchased the replacement tweeters(two of them) and will only use one per cabinet. See how they sound and if you like them, that's what is most important.

How long have you been looking for some SDA's?
What size room will they go into?
What are you going to use to run them?
I think these are some of the things you should think about before making the purchase. The speakers in the picture are not bad but maybe you can do better, I think you can.

If the OP is in Los Angeles, i'm sure better pairs will come along soon enough. Personally I would pass on those.

Check out the SDA CRS+'s with stands on LA Craigslist. You should be able to talk him down to $275.

Are the + CRS's a single or dual tweeter? I believe the preference is the single tweeter version.

I used to own the CRS+'s, single tweeter. Same XO as my 2B's, so TL-moddable. Those are kickin little speakers. Go for it!

I've been looking for about a month. Not much here in LA. I'm not sure what I'm going to use to run them yet. I'm just looking to get into the SDA game. Buy some, mod if necessary, build a system.

I'm not sure if any of the gear I have now will work as I don't know that much about powering SDA's. I have LSi9's and 7's now and am curious about the SDA sound as I've never heard it.

I have a Parasound HCA 2200ii, Halo A23 and a Nak CA-5 in the audio closet. Will these work?

Halo A23 with the CRS+'s would be really good.

Upgrading the CRS+ to the 4.1TL mod will net you some pretty sweet sounding speakers.

They won't have the presence of the larger SDA's, but will have more than what you're using now.
