Thank God for different opinions. Imagine the world if we all wanted the same woman
May I get in line for another 2-ch review, please?
Either the 300 or the 500, but I would prefer the 500 (using HK 3485).
Do we need to ship since I am in Baltimore, too?
Thank you!
p.s. a good day to come back to CP from hiding
I'll demo them and give a full review. I could also get some speakers in there price class and do a shotout. Kinda a price per performance thing. It would be cool.

I'll post a detailed review at the product page review section after the 2 weeks is up.
Here are my 1st impressions:
- very beautiful design
- incredibly smooth high end..whoever said these are harsh lacks wisdom
- great mid-bass punch
- lacks the low end deep bass that my SDA's can produce
Very nice 1st impression.:D
Sweet.
Shawn474 - How does your experience rate with the above?
I'm in. I am going to PM you my address.
TSi500's match nice to the black shiny bezel of the Pioneer Plasma.
Also, it's quite nice to have the SDA-2B's in the 2-channel rig.![]()

Very nice. Have you tried pulling them away from the wall a little more?

No. Should I? Also, what is the proper toe in?
You might want to give it a shot. Having a speaker that close to the wall can make the bass response a bit muddy sounding. Moving them closer to the wall will increase bass output, but at the expense of SQ sometimes. Moving them away will clear them up, but may slightly decrease the bass output. My RTi8's are 18" from the back wall, and about 2.5' from the side walls.
As for toe-in, that's something of a room specific issue, and can vary from speaker to speaker. With my RTi8's, I have them toed in a little bit, the tweeters fire past my ears and intersect right behind my head. Some speakers shouldn't be toed in at all(such as SDA's), while with some speakers, they even recommend toeing out slightly.
Placement is key with speakers. It can take a while to find the best placement sometimes, but it can make the difference between a good sounding setup and a bad sounding setup.

Thanks Curt. Pulled them out about 7 more inches. I'll try that a while.
I'll keep the slight toe in as it is about as you described you have your RTi8's.
The smooth high end frequency response on these speakers is nothing short of fantastic.
I would definitely consider buying a pair of these in black, running them "large" or maybe crossing them over around 50Hz, and adding a huge sub to help with the low end.
Put these in the 2-channel rig and...very impressive.
For the last 6 or 7 years I have been buying and selling mostly vintage speakers because they have a special place in my heart. Typically I do not like the newer "H/T" style speakers.
But I do like these...the bottom firing port is interesting and can really move some air.
Maybe lightman1 can give these a listen next week before I ship them off to the next person in line. Peace.

Time for these to move on to the next person. I really enjoyed them.
Doro, Polk may want to look into using a little better packaging for this deomo. I fear the styrofoam inserts will not make it much longer. Just my constructive advice being that I am a Shipping Manager. Please don't take it wrong, I would just hate to see these beautiful speakers get damaged. Thanks to Polk Audio for letting me demo these TSi500's!!!
Whoooo hooool, I am one person closer to getting my hands on these puppies, lol. Who is next on the list?

Might be me I think. Cant wait :D
Nice prelim review. Conrardicles.
This doesn't surprise me...they have a lot in common with my M70s and I've always felt that speaker never got its due--the TSIs look much nicer, of course, and they have that bottom port...which I would like those reviewing to talk about more. It is my feeling that that may make placement a bit more difficult with the 500s? But not that much.
Look forward to more...

Need those labels Doro so I can send to the next person in line.
Put these in my 2-channel rig the past couple weeks. The room is very "live" and big (23' x 25') and these speakers really shine!
The bottom firing port is a good design IMHO.
Messiah(Chris)...I'll make the labels out later tonight and forward them to Conradicles(Eric). Sorry man, just been swamped at work.
We lost the pair of TSi300 to Grimster since he liked them so much, he bought them....

Not surprised there Doro..
I have a pair I run in my home office...a bit big for that but the office is not that small. Polk really hit the 'entry' market with these. A wonderful speaker for anyone looking to get more serious about their HT or even a nice small 2-channel system--at an almost 'unbeatable' price-point.
I know the reviews are forthcoming. But hey, I've owned these for months--in fact I'm listening to some jazz on the 300s as I type this! Good job guys! Conradicles, thanks for reference to bottom port. As I said above, with the M70s I've found the front port helps give that speaker a lot of flexibility with room placement. The bottom port adds a tad more bass from the specs on the TSI-500.
Onward!
