Yes it can be as long as you start your day early enough. Get a passport so you can go on the Canadian side, Much better IMO. That is of course if you live in America.
Two over nights should do it. There is nothing on the U.S.A. side. Go to Canada. Besides of the Maid in the Mist boat ride, there is a tour you can take into tunnels behind the falls. Plus there is tours of the huge power generating plants down from the falls. A cool tour for technology buffs. Lots of nice resturants and, if you are into gaming, casinos too. On the cultural side there is a fantastic garden/park and a couple of museums.
Arrive on Friday night and leave during midday Sunday. My wife and I swing into there every 8-10 years or so for a weekend get away.
You can go to the casino.

+1 for the Canadian side. All US side has is a giant park. There is like 1 decent cafe/restaurant on the US side (if you call hard rock cafe a restaurant).
Canadian side is a touristy area. The view of the falls is much better. You have Maid of the mist, cave, helicopter, amusement park, 2 casinos, restaurants, Marineland - typical tourist stuff.
Although, I have to say this - the lineups are much shorter and the prices are lower on the US side :).

I think you can still get bottle rockets over there. If you can't have fun with bottle rockets .....
...and Cuban smokes!
A passport is needed?
There is a butterfly garden as well. Makes for fantastic pics!

Do the Canadian places take our worthless dollar or do I have to exchange it for real money?

Drive away from boarder, Hop on the QEW towards Toronto and you can have a absolutely smashing weekend, IMO.![]()
Oh hell yes does Canadian places take the USA "worthless" dollar ... especially on par with with their even more worthless dollar if you pony up a greenback in a Canadian store or resturant on par. The closest the Canadian dollar ever came to the USA dollar is about on par ... usually a Canadian dollar is about 75 USA cents to the USA dollar.
Check the current exchange rates. Better yet, use a credit card as often as possible. The bankers behind the cards make sure things are kept to the penny honest as possible as those electrons flow to and forth.
For general spending money, you can exchange USA money for Canadian money at government run places near the border. These government run places are spot on honest. The same when you get back into the USA. I always keep a few Candian bills as souviners. The Canadian bills look cool! (forget Canadian singles, that went to dollar coins a long time ago).
