Just announced in Japan. While SACD and Blu-ray are the featured formats, it does play DVD-A as well. However, I think this player will retail for $4,000+

I would buy it, but I don't like the color of the screws.
There's a thread somewhere about where to buy black paint. That should solve that issue. :D

That one is priced way out of my budget.
Sunfire TGP, Sunfire Cinema Grand, Sunfire 300~2 (2), Sunfire True Sub (2),Carver ALS Platinum, Carver AL III, TFM-55, C-19, C-9, TX-8, SDA-490t, SDA-390t
Two HDMI outs, one video, one audio?
Looks like a cool machine, but I agree that the non matching screws are tacky. I wonder if it comes with the velvet mat? :D

I have learned that the remote that's included with the Marantz is not this one. Damn, I was about to pull the trigger too......

Super nice player. This is one issue with player of this class: it becomes obsolete in 2 years, 3 years max, unlike a SACD/Redbook player 2/MC channels that seem to hold its value a few years better.
But hey, it's only money.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.
Nothing looks cheap in my SA-11S1, and there are no screws in the front/top/sides.
At that price difference (nearly tenfold), it's not exactly an alternative...

It needs to be in soft (pink) gold signature color as other Marantz High End Players!
I see, the dealer I went to only had the standard line, no reference line. They give them all the same look now, but on the standard line it is definitely plastic. And you can see from the pics of the model above, the side panels are plastic as well.
Good to know the reference line is still well made.

the stripper in that pic is in my price range, but what the hell man? 4 thousand fu**in dollars for a bluray player? any 1 that buys this has to be out of thier tiny f**King minds . In like 3 years there's not gona be any blurays i bet ya, itl all be downloads, even marantz was supporting this better than bluray player last year at the ces
How can a download possibly look and sound as good as Blu Ray without being a tremendously large file and requiring the end user to have a NAS loaded up with 1TB plus drives to maintain it all?

How about the Denon DVD-5901Ci Reference player? Looks like Crutchfield has them for $999.00 versus the retail of $3800? There has to be a catch to it no?
