Default Any thoughts on what these are?

These look like they might make a decent SDA type center channel or possibly surrounds. Anyone know what model they are? it appears to have a SL-2000 tweeter.

Thanks guys. i bet you could make a decent center channel out of a pair of them allright, switch the SL-2000's for RDO's. I think I will email WastelandWandr about these he is a lot closer than I am to them, and he is looking for a pair of vintage polks.

I also was thinking about making a center channel out of them . I bought a couple pair of RTA 8t's and 11t's for replacements drivers. I was thinking about making a new cabinet for them so I could center the tweeter and put a PR on each side of the mids.

We can talk soon. I would run ports for a center in a smaller cab, and design it for 60-80hz on the low end. You any good with wood?

My father is a carpenter so I'd have him help. Why would you run a ported center versus sealed with PR's. Wouldn't it match better with SDA's?

    Thanks

Its too bad your not local Ben. I would like to build a home theater with the walls designed as speaker cabinents, virtual walls of sound. I think for 75-100k + labor a fellow could have a decent budget home theater this way.

I wish all Polkies were local. I love this stuff. I have yet to meet a Polkie I didn't like. I do want to do in wall SDA's for the bedroom.

It seems to me that instead of having to find drivers that were designed to go in wall it would be better if the walls were designed for the speakers, the bass should be better this way I think because you could custom build the mdf cabinents secure them to the studs and make them as deep and wide as you want then, using the Quiet rock type sheetrock so you would have a virtually soundproof room custom made to match the drivers, and have a walk behind space where you could access/change your audio gear with no exposed cables wires etc. Actually it might cost more than a 100k but it would sure be nice to have something that you designed to enjoy music and movies.

It wouldn't cost that much. Most in walls are not enclosed, and I do agree that an enclosure would be ideal. I have lots of Ideas on how to hide them, but that is for a later time.

My thoughts exactly. I used a RTA 11T for a center for a little while just the hell of it and it was very good between my SDA 2B's but it is a monster. I also trued the RTA 8 TL and the 11T was much better.

There's a Kenwood Basic M1D amp and C2 pre on Alaska CL for a steal at $130.

These are very underrated amps imo, Kenwood's serious 80's audiophile equipment.

RTA 11's are great speakers. Had a pair for nearly 20 years. Still kicking myself for not RD0'ing them......I'd probably still have them. Sold them to a Polkie a few years ago.

Thanks John. Anchorage is a little far for me to travel unless it's something I really want but seems like a good deal allright.
