I never thought of pics--good idea..
i only use a web tv..for internet access and i don't have a printer or scanner "BUT" ill see if the buddies do..-i've never had speakers that you have to plug in before.-this might be a financially stupid move nut i did sell a vehicle for the money so it is survivable...:-) These are wierd they have a little blue ML insignia that lights up and you can shut it off with a button and two woofs one, in the front and one in the back 10" woofs-they are almost as tall as i m --i am 5' 10" these gotta be about 5' 8" and boy are they heavy. They have a sort of maple woodgrain little panels. They sound terrible ha,ha,ha,ha-they need to breakin--these things collect dust "OH SO FAST"-i'll be vaccuming them tri weekly or more. i don't really know too much about them yet--the first pair of ML's i checked out were little and only about half of these and i did not like them--but these i think i'll like..

Wow, you are my hero man. I dragged my wife into the local high end store (NOW Audio Video) and she (who hates my audio addiction) was blown away by what sounds like the same speaks you just bought. They are just beautiful...and the ones I have heard sounded fantastic. Good luck on the amp search!

Thats one thing I've found that the ladies won't mind. I think the artsy look of the Martin Logans is appealing to women.

My girl loves the way they look, and they way they sound.

Congrats on the purchase. I'm jealous. :)

    Gary,
good for you man, they are one of my DREAM speakers.Dude what color did you get them in?Putting them together isn't that bad.I was shocked the first time I seen that they came in 4 boxes.

About the amp, think long and hard about upgrading really soon. The Martins are very demanding.

    2 amps.......Krell and Audio Research.Both play really nice with Martin,The Prodigy's.damn dude......thats so cool.

Anything I can do to help man,say the word.

Yes man takes some pics, borrow a digital camera if you have 2.

    10 g's thats a good deal.

Thanks everyone..i appreciate the support-- this is so cool,i found a little switch on the back of the woof
box and it adds +3 db more bass under 50 hz..the instruction sheet says something about room adjustment.. The book suggests that you should bi wire .. it has 4 terminals with wing nuts and also it says you can bi amp and a really cool thing to do would be to use a tube amp for mid to top and a solid state for the bottom..good idea.but i think i'll defy that idea and when my next ship comes in (money or sell something else) i"ll try the PASS amp line maybe the X 250 or 350 or bigger.
altough i must say that this lil' Adcom
isdriving the hell out of them...i can't help it man,,i'm a solid state power buff anyway--so far i like the PASS labs. idea i have always dreamed about a Pass amp.. krell is better but
pass is a little more sane on the price factor...

    Gary.

I am also a webtv user. I have the plus version that allows me to capture images from video and email pictures to people. I have tried to attach images to posts here but that does not work. Which webtv do you have?

That buyers remorse will probably go away. Last fall I got some pretty pricy speakers and have had a few bouts of remorse. (VERY few) The best cure is to turn those things on, sit back and enjoy. I can't believe I own speakers this nice, but I sure am glad I do.

I was going to suggest you check out Krell for your pre and amp. You stated that the Krell might be a bit on the insane side price wise. Well I can't argue with that, but just by buying those speakers, you have already crossed over the line that some might call sane. I know I have gone over that line. Welcome to the other side! I have the Showcase pre and 5 ch amp. I have few complaints about them so far.

as vin diesel once said in the fast and the furious, Not a bad way ta spend 10 thousand bucks!! But if krell is to high priced, think about what you just spent on speakers :) i would have maybe invested in top quality gear first, speakers can always be replaced.. the gear will/should last for years and years if you spend the right money and only one time... that's just me though...

Holy ****, that's a big load of cash for speakers. Congrats on the new purchase. I'm sure you'll enjoy them. Just wondering, what made you purchase the ML's? Which Polk's did you own before the ML's? You're still going to hang out in this forum with us Polksters right?

    Gary,

The most realistic two channel presentation I have ever heard was with an Arcam integrated amp, Arcam CD player and ML speakers, all connected with cheap Monster cabling. I have heard these same speakers with other 'high end' components in the same store that did not even come close to the realism of the Arcam/ML setup.

The reason this one time the system sounded realistic was that who ever placed the speakers in the room knew where to place ML speakers. The speakers were 1/3 of the room length from the back wall and 1/5 of the room width from the side walls. The soundstage placed Sarah McLachlan two feet in front of me. I could visualize the exact spot where she was standing. The soundstage was very wide and very, very deep. I have never heard any other system (even the $100,000 two channel system another store routinely has in one room) produce the same level of detail as this setup.

As the realitors would say, the most import aspect is location, location, location.

PS. I would scrap (the wife will not let me start over again!) all my current stuff for the modest Arcam/ML system I heard that day.

Oh yeah the polks will be in my house and heart forever and i will continue to purchase polk products. now i'll (eventually) have 2 rooms with audio equipment.. I kinda wish i could hold the ML"S hands and take them out to dinner but in this case i think they would have to buy--Ha,ha,ha,ha...:-) I also wonder how much the electric bill will increase..(ouch)..

    Hey y'all,
I got 22 hours on the Prodigy's now--i think they are starting to slowly come around --no bass yet, but it will come-i feel it coming--------------------------------
Hilarious thing--Has any one ever tried listening to "WAR PIGS or FAIRIES WEAR BOOTS" on a pair of ML ELECTRO's ???
    Ha,ha Black Sabbath on Electro's......
You know what?---not bad. Ozzys voice is right there in your face but the recording is so old that the kickdrum sounds like a spoon tapping on a cereal box..(new cd,,old studio recording)--but The MIGHTY ZEP tells a whole new story--Stairway to Heaven (from the box set) actually put goose bumps on my arms--and Ramble on WOW!!
Can the electro's do rock & roll??----
"OH HELL YEAH"... COUNTRY TOO--GARTH BROOKS WAS JUST FABULOUS..(THE THUNDER ROLLS)sounded great with the thunder and rain boy was it so clear..But STEELY DAN'S GAUCHO album it what did it for me---oh god !!! the bras, the keyboarde Fagan's voice the guitar solos--that damn saxophone---OKAY NOW I'M CONVINCED THAT BUYING THERE THINGS WAS A VERY GOOD THING--ha,ha and i get to keep the little woman too--life is good and i am broke and i dont give a ****...cause i an in audio nervana.....
What's impressive yet is that my little polk rt-7's with the velodyne 12/15 sub woof is still sweet... even after my new electro's i just help but still love those little guys..

    Gary,

Congrats, but easy man...pace yourself. The ML's will be fine, but I'm afraid you're going to blow a fuse.

Just a thought, but if you want a little more amp on the cheap, you might want to grab another 545II and bridge them. But get acclimated before you do (or put me in your will :) )

Likely you can resell the amp later for 'bout what you paid and have extra jollies in the meantime.

If you're a classical listener, I'll look forward to your reviews there as well.
    More later,

Last night i hooked up the old 100 dollar lil' one bit dac JVC cd player and put in stereoploles test cd #3 and put it on the pink noise and hit repeat and went to bed so the ML's have 10 more hours on them 44 total break in so far...boy is there a difference today..
this morning i hooked up the Yamaha cd player top 'o' the line with a chip that converts a 16 bit common cd into a 20 bit format before deliverance to the preamp and "VIOLA" the ML"S are now becoming a breath taking expierence.good deep bass not distorted
but clean and tight i can tell that the woofs are fast enough to be able to return before the next note hits-very impressive...so i got kinde ecstatic about all this and just spent this morning doing speaker placement now i have them 5 feet from the back wall and 3 feet in from the side walls almost 8 feet apart and so far it's great-but there's one more thing............now i took out the Yamaha and put in my meridian 508-24---i rekon this one need's no explanation--total audio extacy-the yamaha has a bit more bass-mid bass actually but the meridian is more detailed and articulate-god, the voices, the imaging, the soundstage.
i guess all i need is a new amp and i am there.-Pass labs is here in forrest hill californis-i think i contact then and try to hook something up for some auditioning--i am a Pass labs freak..

    Gary,
on the note of speaker placement,I have found the Prodgys to work there best pointed straight ahead with NO toe in or out.Keepign them away from the side and back walls is a good thing.

And then theres the amp thing,
Dude when your ready, seriously look into Krell and Audio research Tube amps. They both bring life into the Prodigys.I think I lke the audio research tubes slightly better then Krell, but That depended on the day, room and source/music.

Good luck with themman,I think we need some pic's.I 'd love to look at them.
What wire are you using on them???Are they Bi wired? If not take a look into Transparent ref xl's,you won't even believe the tone. Will take you into the music and your breath away........simply elegant...

    Mants,
Right now i am using Monster 850-I's for innerconnects and i have te monster speaker cables 14 gauge the cable is kinda whitish with a green strope down the whole thing--yes i have been playing with single wire and bi wire, they are now bi wired-and i will take youe advice and shpo and think long and hard about what i can add as far as an amp goes--i just was lucky to have someone bu the car and i jumped on a stupid--(or ingenious ) move and cashed the ML's they were a demo with only 3 weeks on them and thats why i could talk the guys down on the price plus they weren't about to let me out of there knowing i had cash--works every time..-i got them home in the truck and had one foot thick of foam rubber wrappe arount then and laid them on there side, tied them dowm and never drove over 50-ha,ha.. i was scared about bumps but nothing happened to--i did not have to put them together s they were off the showroom floor them..Next time i run into a wheal-n- deal to where i can come across cash i'll go get a new amp.... i honestly didn't think the ADCOM would hack it but again i was way wrong...that lil' thing suprised te hell out of me..Mx stylie will like to her that...i wil probably be asking you to tell me how to in the near future-you are right i took out the toe in and it wqs better...
