Caligula, you sound just like me before I got dogs lol....although I still act that way a bit. I hate it when they run circles around each other under the coffee table n the sort, or lay next to it simply to stretch out and claw/scratch an end table or something =( gotta love the dogs though!

Dude I'm crazy about it. Cars are the worse. I get so squirly about it when I get one on my car/truck and I can't buff it off, I don't want it anymore. My gear I'm the same way, it takes away from the beauty of it.

Nope, it is only "stuff" and can be replaced or ignored. Now I don't dump beer on the floor or flick ashes around while smoking a cigar, but if something gets a scratch or ding, I don't care. I've more important things to concern myself with.

I don't want dings or scratches on the car or truck. My friends all laugh because I park on the very end spots so all the lazy people won't get close to me. Have a 95 Bronco dirty but not dinged or scratched

About most things I am a pretty easy going guy but when it comes to my audio and compuer gear, my wife and 17 year old daughter know that I'm a bit anal about it. I have shown them how to use it properly (proper settings etc...). I expect them to treat it the way that I do. For example, my dauhter was switching channels one day and I heard her throw the remote onto the wooden coffee table. I picked up the remote, turned the tv off and explained she would not use my tv again. She has a tv in her room with satellite. My wife thought it was harsh but she has a habit of destroying remotes (has broken two for her tv and one for her dvd player.

I'm a bit anal over everything I own. Fingerprints...I rarely let anyone handle my CDs or DVDs if I'm not around...even my wife and kids? No one touches the front of my HD-TV...only "I" am allowed to dust and clean. I often wrap remotes in plastic wrap if I know someone else is going to be fingering them regularly.

Almost 'all' my gear is immaculate. I once chipped a corner of the wood veneer on a speaker and I spent a few days building it back up with wood putty and matching the stain? Am I nuts Caligula. With Mantis, I REALLY don't like it when my wife scrapes the bumpers on the cars!

And worse yet, I'm anal with my book collection, a few thousand, I hate when people dog-ear books, break their spines and various other forms of mutilation. Even after I've read a book you can hardly tell, even if I highlight or underline within it. To me a book is like the author who produced it, deserving of the respect we give to each other. How's that for crazy!

My 20 year old JBL 3-way monitors hardly look more than 2-3 years old! And my 1989 Kenwood amp is almost NEW!

I could go on but we might need to call in a therapist? I'm with you Caligula!

Just buy pre-scratched furniture, or furniture with a scratch finish.

    Problem solved.

I like things with scratches. It gives them character...plus, after it's scratched, you won't be so worried about scratching it anymore. It's a win/win.

Three months ago I never had proper stands ,I decided to put my fxi3 on satellite speaker stands (whats my name) and the twister extension came untwisted

I saw it happen in slow motion as first it slammed down twenty inches ,then it bounced up and came down faster on its top totaly flattening the back left corners

Every time I walk by the speaker I relive the trauma and hate myself for it forever .I only had them a month and payed 220 for them N I B . Even though the grill hides it I lost the resale value of them

I'm more than anal, I'm OCD. I hate scratches, fingerprints etc. I don't even want people to breathe on my stuff. Of course my wife hates it because she wants to sit on the couch and cuddle or some $hit and I see a smudge on the TV and completely freak out. But hey, I work very hard for everything we have so I have that right.

When kids come over to the house I just get really drunk so I don't have to think about it, that's why everything is up high and my speakers have aluminum grilles (when kids aren't over the grilles are off).

Default My baby is scratched - I have quadruplets

Ive got a one inch scratch on my beloved LSi15 thats running surround duty on the speaker side of the ebony wood. Its about a mm thin. Must have happened when contractors got up into the attic during an inspection.

Anyhow, I've tried Minwax stain pens (ebony colored) and they wouldn't stick. I've tried Minwax wax-fill pens and they don't match, looks stupid, and isn't a permanent fix. Colored pencils wont color on the scratch either.

I called customer service and they said hire a furniture repairman (yeah, right) or got to a home improvement store to get some materials for a DIY fix (tried that and it didn't work, see above).

So, I am desperate. I am going to mix together some acrylic paints (black and brown) and use a toothpick to try to fill in the scrape unless I get better advice here. :(
Do you hear that buzzing noise?

I have to admit - there are several stages of attitude I go through pertaining to a scratch.

If I buy something new (rarely) -

    First:
I get very angry at the first scratch -

    Then:
I have to keep inspecting it - did that really happen? - is it really there?

    Lastly:
I remember that day when I (or someone else) did something stupid and although I don't like the scratch being there - it is part of my life story with the object and my memory enjoys the trip.
