    Default Denon DCM-280

Need a CD player, something that plays MP3's. Needs to be cheap. Found this at eTronics.com for $145. Good deal or should I look for something else?

That's helpful but, through out the whole post you were saying that Technics did this and that better and sounded better but then at the end you wrote "Why does the Denon sound better than the Technics?"

    It's confusing.

I know its bit confusing as I wrote it. The fact is that technics sounded better at lower volumes but become harsh at higher SPLs. And my question is basically that what makes a CDP better then other, is it DAC or associated circuitry in the analog domain (line stage etc.).

    Jstas,

I cant say enough about the little Mintek dvd/mp3/cd/cd-rw/picture player. Great quality for such a cheap little thing (65 bucks). Only down side is, it looks plain and it takes a few secs to load CD's.

As for Denon - .... heh ..... eff em

I just purchased one and I find it to be a competent player
has Burr-Brown DAC (big reason why I bought it). I would suggest that you make sure you purchase from an authorized
    Denon dealer otherwise no warranty......
