Default Horror/Slasher Movies in the 80's...

Why were there so many of them in the 80's? I find it interesting that today they don't seem as popular, but back in the day there were movies like this releasing left and right.

I think 'Nightmare on Elm st.' had something to do with it. I don't think they're as popular today, because of the internet, and 1,000's of snuff sites?

I promise to get off your lawn Obi...
    "Snuff sites"????

Texas Chainsaw Massacre.... Tobe Hooper absolutely nailing the idea of being caught in No-Man's Land (ala' World War I). The heat, hopelesness, and the grisly utlimate outcome.

Poltgergeist... Surely don't forget looking under the bed or into the closet.... you know, just to make sure everyhing is "safe".

The Thing... you know that guy sitting right next to you? He might might have full-blown AIDS.
Just joking!! He's just mutated and became everything that lurks under your bed. Sucks to be you.

The Shining... twins sans emotion. 'Nuff said.

    Tag... you're it.

I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore
