Default Anyone familiar with DENON Turntables?

My Denon DP-52f does not respond when using the Start button on the front of the table. The system picks up the tonearm but will not move to the record automatically. As I type this, I was listening to an LP, and the tonearm bounced a couple times on the record, without any sort of input whatsoever and returned to the arm rest... I believe I am looking at some sort of logic failure.

Well.. I opened it up and found a multitude of troubles. The guy that had it prior to me swapped out the RCA's and did a bit of damage to the input board, and when I gently moved them I tore two traces from the board. Thank God I know a little something, and was able to solder in a new set of RCA's, there were also a few disconnected wires underneath some electrical tape. I reconnected everything in hopes that this would solve the troubles. while I was successful correcting the damping for lowering the tonearm to the platter, and the problem of the tonearm bouncing across the record, the problem of the arm actually going to the record remains. I believe there is some sort of logic failure in the start circuit. Anyone have any ideas?

Or it might be time for a new table John. This is why I always preferred manual, DD TT's.

    Good luck!

Good luck. If you really want to keep that table which happens to be the most complex table Denon made, try to find a good tech that has experience fixing that table.

It is one of Denon's best. It may set you back more than a bill to fix.
Parts are non existent unless canibalized from another 52.

IMHO.... I would look for another table but keep the Denon for parts.

if you find a factory manual and schematic that will help with the diagnoses but
you may still need to obtain replacement parts.

determine the blue book value .

Good time to find another table
but keep the Denon just in case another shows up.

I am going to take it into the shop and see if they might be able to come up with a work around like bypassing the full auto functions... if they cannot fix it or come up with a workable solution, there will be almost 200 lps for sale at unbelievable prices once I copy them to disc and convert to a media server.

Have you seen manual turntables that have multiple tonearms like three of them.

maybe just add a tonearm on an opposite corner and you are back in operation,

I do not like the looks of such tables but it may be an option for replacing the one that already exists. I bought this one because I love the way it looks, and its performance was a secondary consideration. That said, the sound of this table was beyond anything I have heard before from a table. I know there are better out there, but cannot afford to take vinyl to the next level lest I were to part with My TL's or the Sunfire...

    NJ,
You might want to look into a turntable that is a little more trouble free then that Denon unit. Perhaps a Denon 3910? The cartridges are a lot cheaper, and I have yet to break out stylus cleaner for it. It seems impervious to skate, the vertical tracking angle appears to be set at the factory, and it plays CD-R's.
    Just my 2 pesos.

now that's a blast from the past...

    when i see folks with multi-channel amplifiers / receivers 4 , 5, 6 channels
reminds me of the quadraphonic, dbx, surround sound, digital or analog delay
    attempts years gone by.
