Restaurant recommendations ST. Augustine ?

Hello Im taking the family to St. Augustine Next weekend and was wondering if anyone has any good restaurant recommendations or any other advice as to witch attractions to hit or miss.

Hi Vince, My recommendation would be for with the family, the Columbia. Fantastic Spanish and Cuban fare. The 1905 salad is just perfect. They will mix your Sangria at the table and after a pitcher or two, a nice ride in the horse drawn carriages makes for a great evening.

If you and the significant other can get away alone, the Opus 39, reservations required, is a fabulous meal which will take about 3.5 hours to finish. It is normally a 5-7 course meal with a wine pairing with service that is impeccable.

I was down there working for about 8 weeks and my wife came to visit and I took her to both of those restaurants. The Columbia is within a normal family budget depending on how many teenagers you have to feed!

The Opus 39 was frankly a BIG splurge! Dinner and the wine pairing for two was about $375.00. We don't do things like this often but we thought what the heck! After 30 years of raising kids we thought we deserved it!

By the way, there is a terrific Gelato place kiddy-corner to the Columbia which is a must do no matter where you go to eat. Can't remember the name right now but you can't miss it.

Gosh, I feel like a travel agent! Perhaps that is what I'll do after I retire!! No matter where you go, you're sure to have a great time! The fort is kinda neat for the kids. Check the schedule, they have a firing of the guns with a short history lesson for the young and old alike.

We didn't do the Ghost train but it appeared that everybody was having a great time on the train. We were at the Tini-Martini bar enjoying some (many) adult beverages as the trains drove by. St. Augustine is a great place for family or just a couple! One of my all time favorite vacation spots!!!!

Santa Maria resturant where you can feed fish at your dining table. its right by the bridge ( i forget what its called, it has two huge lion statues by the fort ) Its been years since i went there, excellent fried shrimp.

It's called the "Bridge of Lions" which is under reconstruction right now. There is an excellent seafood restaurant right there also. Many pirates from the attractions are there and lends to a unique experience!

Hell yea i recommend OP to eat that resturant. its worth it!!!! cool to see fish eat your leftover :D

Thanks for the advice ive heard of that one before its dfinatly on the list.
Hawkeye as for the Opus seems a bit out of my price range considering im also
shopping for a SACD player. Is Hawkeye a refernce to the show Mash?
